Another OT win gives the Gophers a sweep of over the Buckeyes....at least they managed to beat a team they should. Some of these young guys show potential, so hopefully they can keep improving.

Tyler Sheehy was the B10 Hockey "1st star of the week". 2nd star went to .... "some guy from Indiana" 3rd star went to .... "the Rutgers bus driver"

[&:][&:] We are notorious here ... for getting the best players from other places to transfer in to play hockey for us. Unfortunately they are not the best players from Russia or Sweden or even Massachusetts Ours are from Tennessee, Arkansas, and South America. Not kidding. [:o]

Hey, don't knock it. Cocaine Arena at the top of Machu Picchu rocks. That crowd is just full of energy. It's like they are right on top of you. The Ice Girls are hideous though.

After not showing up and getting blown out on Friday, the boys came to play last night and played a very good game to get the split at Michigan. The sad part is, I think it was much a let down on their part as it was a good game on ours. It just doesn't look like tDon has the horses to keep up this year.

Agree. I said it about 3 games ago. This is the worst Gopher team I've seen in about 20 years.

Who'd wanna watch? You know damn well what will happen. There is only one embarrassing outcome today, no matter how the game turns out. This is simply unreal.

The state of Gopher hockey has gotten to the point that I had forgotten all about the Mariucci Classic until I saw an ad for tonights game while watching the Wild last night. And to think just a few short years ago they were must see TV every Friday and Saturday night at 7PM all winter long!

During the '60s and '70s, my friends and I planned things AROUND Fri and Sat games. Couldn't miss a game. During the '80s and '90s and '00s, while raising and coaching kids and heading to tournaments, made travel arrangements so that we were done traveling by game time, so we could all gather around and watch. Could easily name EVERY player and tell you something about every one of them. Knew them and where they came from and where they were going. For all those decades. I'm fully embarrassed to tell you that right now, I'd have a hard time naming five off this years roster. There's simply no way that should happen. But it has.

It's embarrassing how small the crowds have become at Mariucci. It used to be packed and raucous in there, but now there are empty seats everywhere and the noise level is comparable to a morgue. But ... we won! [sm=shrug.gif]

[sm=shrug.gif] The upside to that is a person could probably get season tickets easier than 10 years ago, but unlike then, I don't want them now. I watched the 1st period last night and that was it. I guess the bright side is they won, but from what I saw it wasn't very good hockey.....

The alignment with the Big Ten has sucked almost all the life out of the Gopher hockey experience, for me. So badly miss Wooger and Frank Mazzocco on game nights, parrying off of each other so perfectly. This is a sinking ship, now. Wonder how low things will have to descend before emergency measures are taken? The WCHA was a wonderful thing. We never knew how good we had it.
