As I switch over to the Gophers I get to see the 3rd goal to take control. Amazing we are talking about this team winning a championship. Shows how weak the B10 is........

Theres a big long chain of our old conferences champ. banners hanging in our home rink of the team I help coach.
Its a crappy conference, comparatively.
We've had new coaches come in, and they usually look up at those, and go ... "big deal, crappy conference..."
I took it a couple times, then finally had enough.
Now when new guys say that ... I look at them and say ... "know whats worse than hanging those pathetic banners? NOT hanging those pathetic banners"
Here endeth the lesson. [:D]

Very true indeed. A banner is a banner. You can only play the teams on your schedule.

That's the worst part
I can remember feeling very fortunate ten years ago ... when season ticket holders would let me use their Alaska (or some other cupcake) tickets.
Even those games, it'd be PACKED.
Used to be a privilege to be there, an EVENT.
Not so much anymore.

Yup, it was a rare time to get a chance to go see them live back then. Like you said, it was one of the Alaska teams or one of the exhibition games.

Ahhhh. The good ole days when the big disappointment during the conference schedule was the one or two nights that Anchorage-Alaska wasn't on TV.

So we won our regular season conference title and have to win the B10 tourney to get in to the bigs. Pathetic.

Heard there were 47 spectators at the Big 10 playoff game between Penn State and Wisconsin at Xcel Energy Center. Impressive.

Looked like lots of empty seats for the Gopher game tonight as well. Gophers need to get a win tomorrow night against Michigan to advance to the tourney.

Wouldn't surprise me if Michigan gives us the game to allow 2 Big Ten teams into the tourney. Would be the smart (but shady) way to go.

Yup, both games were on B10 Network and the game against Michigan tonight will be too. The NCHC game with UMD vs SCSU is on CBSS tonight as well, so it looks like another night of channel jumping for me.

Yesterday was a pretty good day for Minnesota hockey with both Gophers teams winning along with UMD and SCSU as well.

The greatest day of sports in my life.
I had at least 4 or 5 games going on, from 11 am to 11pm
I literally OD'ed on sports yesterday.
It felt like old times for the Gophs.
Going to be very tough to beat Michigan, they are rolling.

And ............................................. the Sue were frustrated by UMD.
It was a perfect day all around.
I love how UMD grinds it out.
Good coach, good kids, they just get to work.

I caught the last period of that game and loved watching how hard those kids work. Between UMD and SCSU, I have no problem cheering either team on in the NCAA's.
The hour break between games last night I caught the show about the '78-79 Gopher team on the B10 channel with Herbie and the boys. Was fun seeing how much pride those guys had in being an all Minnesota team taking down a Sue team with like 14 of 20 Canadians on the roster. Wish the current roster would show a little of that.....
