Wow! Props to Morgan on that 4th down conversion with his legs. Lucky, but we will take it.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (12/19/2020 5:52:24 PM)

#3 has gotta catch that. Damn!

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (12/19/2020 5:53:05 PM)

BOOM! Nice route by #22.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (12/19/2020 5:53:54 PM)

17-17. I was a little nervous on the XPT since I'm a MN football fan.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (12/19/2020 6:04:08 PM)

Thank you Badgers QB! Easy INT.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (12/19/2020 6:09:10 PM)

Gophers have been called for a ridiculous number of holds today. Most very questionable.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (12/19/2020 6:10:06 PM)

That was lucky. What is Morgan doing holding onto the ball all day?

MDK -> RE: Gopher Football (12/19/2020 7:45:15 PM)

I hate the PJ Fleck offensive scheme whereby they send in the play and then wait until the defense adjusts and then effectively sends in an audible from the sideline. They are frequently up against the play clock and if I am a defense, I see this in film, make adjustments to confuse them and then adjust right before the snap.

It is a high school play scheme. Stupid and stupider. yes, I know stupider is not a word.

But this is what you get when rah rah is more substantive than actual coaching.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (12/19/2020 8:43:20 PM)

Pissed away a very winnable game.

The holding call that took away our touchdown, setting up the Wisconsin interception was bullshit.

The Gophers are opting out of postseason bowl games; cornerback Benjamin St-Juste declares for NFL draft.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (12/21/2020 7:20:30 AM)

Awful performance by guys who should be better
Morgan, wth happened to you?
Playmakers made you look good?
Because he had 47 opportunities to win the game, and basically deferred.
The whole "stare at the sidelines until 6 seconds remain, then panic, run up to center, run back from center, barely get ball off" crap looks all HS-ish
Makes no decisions on his own
The RPO doesn't work when your QB NEVER keeps the ball
Wiscy LBers had the easiest job in the world Saturday
We ran on 1st, ran on second, turtled on third, and our QB was never going to scramble
He did ONE TIME and it almost won us the game.
Pathetic end of game management. At least our Saturdays prepare us for Sundays.

Shoulda shut it off then
Was apparent who was supposed to win
Reffing wasn't terrible, but it was always going to make sure Wiscy ended up on top
ZERO need to take that TD away, ZERO. Unless you are over-officiating.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (12/21/2020 7:23:16 AM)

I see Miles already nailed my HS offense bitch.
Morgans not more ready than this, at this stage?
Someone's over coaching.

Strib comments on the opt-out were as expected

Lots of "good decision Gophers" and support

only a couple criticisms of the program. One talked about the only thing unaffected by the season was the coaches' ego.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (12/21/2020 10:28:14 AM)

A whole mess of teams turning down bowl games
Where's that ol' college spirit y'all were preaching before this fiasco started?
Nebraska insisted we get this shit going, and they bail now, too.

Scott Frost did what he said. He stated that he would have is players in the safest place they could be all year. He was exactly right. Huskers missed 1 game to the virus because of Wisconsin. He kept his players safe and left any decision to keep on playing up to his players. His players and parents love him.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (12/22/2020 7:34:30 AM)

Good to hear he's doing the right things.
The Bowl Games are looking pretty sparse.

Bottom line

Win

Will the fan base love their coach after a couple more years of mediocrity?

Applies to a lot of teams

Bill Jandro -> RE: Gopher Football (12/22/2020 8:19:59 AM)

I don't get why opting out of bowl games is so widespread. isn't that what you play the game for?

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (12/22/2020 8:31:57 AM)

I heard PJ explain the reasoning to PA.

Campus is basically a ghost town right now. Kids would have have to spend the time between last weekend and the bowl game in virtual lock down eating box lunches. He and they felt that time home with their families for Christmas was more valuable this year given all they've endured.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (12/22/2020 8:40:34 AM)

Hmmm
Its almost like we all should have waited for that Spring schedule they proposed
Especially HS
Many who screamed about losing their senior season, got it started, and then wound up with 2 or 3 games.
Good call.

All seniors have been given an extra year of eligibility.

I agree on waiting until spring though. The Ohio State University had to have its season now though. And what Ohio State wants, Ohio State gets.

Without that fall season you don't get in the playoffs and get recognition playoff money, etc

As noted before all of this was driven by $$$$$$$$$$$$$

What a cluster-f the MN HS League pulled for Volleyball and football

If they'd actually had a plan from the start.

Delay the football and volleyball until spring. Fine.
Then turn around and change it because (SHOCK) "we didn't know the other states around us would be playing". Which means they had their heads buried somewhere when the other states committed to fall sports weeks before they pulled the plug on fall in the initial plan.

Start on time, likely would have gotten almost all the games in.

As you said, some got 2 or 3, some volleyball teams played a half dozen matches or less.

Nice work MNSHSL

So now the other states around have schools already competing and MN waits for January. Will it end any better than the fall?
