They should have recruited Ben Revere šŸ˜‰

I'm not sure what I should infer from that. [8|]

Even at his current age since Revere used football passing to improve his arm

Heā€™s be a better quarterback than either of
Morgan and Axe

Truly sad state

Mister Ed -> RE: Gopher Football (9/30/2021 1:09:38 PM)

That dude from California who never stayed would be

An aging fragile Joe Mauer would be

Fleck probably would be

Mister Ed -> RE: Gopher Football (9/30/2021 1:13:32 PM)

As for not wanting to throw Morgan under the bus

The rest of the world pretty much has

You can be loyal all you want

But that donā€™t mean you are gonna win.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (9/30/2021 1:19:20 PM)

You are correct. Programs that are real winners never put misguided loyalty over winning.

Mister Ed -> RE: Gopher Football (9/30/2021 1:27:54 PM)

I know Morgan had a rough offseason with his dadā€™s passing away

Unfortunately the teams Minnesota are playing donā€™t care come game time

If itā€™s partially the reason or not

A change needs to be made

And Sweens is right
Bringing a guy back who lost the job YEARS ago

Yuck

Interesting tidbit from Chip Scoggins

"The Gophers rank No. 7 nationally in rushing attempts per game. Again, the top three are service academies.

That's an average of 18 passes per game versus 48 runs."

1. Army
2. Air Force
3. Navy

7. Minnesota

They have had much better running backs than they've had quarterbacks.

This is what I don't get Steve. Every year they recruit 4 star QB's and 4 star WR. How are they this bad at passing the football? Must be coaching.

According to Rivals.com, the Gophers have only signed two 4-star quarterbacks since 2002. Jacob Clark (2019) and MarQueis Gray (2008). Clark has thrown one pass in his career so far.

As a guy who understands a bit about this industry I can tell you this. Most great quarterbacks are not going to sign for a program that ranks No. 7 in rushing attempts. It's not in their best interest if they wish to make an impression on pro scouts.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2021 10:16:04 AM)

Whoa there. Slow down with this ā€œgreat QBā€ talk. Let us work on ā€œdecent ā€œ with a plan to work our way up to ā€œgoodā€

Mister Ed -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2021 12:23:01 PM)

Won the first quarter

Losing the second

247 lists both Clark and Athan Kaliakmanis, currently on the roster, as 4 star recruits.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2021 1:27:07 PM)

The mighty Gopher oline is garbage. Bunch of oversized pussues.

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2021 2:10:49 PM)

Winner.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (10/3/2021 10:59:20 AM)

We won, will take it but I still hate this offensive philosophy. Have we ever not run the RPO (where the pass or Morgan keeping it is NOT an option) on first down? And, Autman-Bell canā€™t carry Bateman or Johnsonā€™s jock.

Mister Ed -> RE: Gopher Football (10/11/2021 11:21:57 AM)

Potts out for the year after multiple days in a hospital after that game.
No disclosure why.

Yet

I wonder what it could be. Well I hope whatever it is isnā€™t career threatening and is limited to this year.

For a football standpoint, I think heā€™s easy enough to replace. Potts was showing promise, he was very solid, but for now anyway he was a step down from Mo. Next man up. Or run it by committee until someone establishes himself.

And for Godā€™s sake maybe take this as a cue to not be so run reliant, and open up the offense a bit.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/16/2021 11:19:42 AM)

Nice start against the Huskers.

stfrank -> RE: Gopher Football (10/16/2021 12:18:12 PM)

Now that they are down to the #3 RB they finally are throwing the ball a little bit.
Too bad they had to run their top 2 so much they both got hurt before throwing the ball more.....

stfrank -> RE: Gopher Football (10/16/2021 12:55:56 PM)

Morgan threw that last one just a little short causing the pick in the end zone. Our receivers seem to have to slow up and wait for the ball quite often and that time it cost us.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/16/2021 12:59:07 PM)

#5 for Nebraska is having himself a game.

Morgan, late/short on many deep throws.

Good think Martinez is struggling.

stfrank -> RE: Gopher Football (10/16/2021 1:08:17 PM)

Morgan is either hot or not, and it appears we are now in the "not zone." [:@]

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/16/2021 1:11:00 PM)

After owning the 1st half, it's game on.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/16/2021 1:14:45 PM)

Coach took foot off gas before halftime with 2 kneel downs. Team been playing like it ever since.

stfrank -> RE: Gopher Football (10/16/2021 1:38:24 PM)

I have a hard time deciding which Minnesota football coach is worse....Fleck or Zimmer.
Their teams always play down to the opponents level, but rarely play up to a better opponents level.
