It’s worse than that. We had 1 TO and they had none, at their 45 with 12 seconds and they purposely let it run out.

stfrank -> RE: Gopher Football (9/24/2022 4:44:50 PM)

Definitely some confusion on the clock at the end there. Would have been nice to get at least a decent shot at a field goal on that last drive.

stfrank -> RE: Gopher Football (9/24/2022 4:50:53 PM)

MSU came out of the half time and marched down the field on us only to fumble inside the 10 yard line. We get the ball and are now marching on them. If we can get 7 more here I think it will completely demoralize them and pretty much put us in the drivers seat.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (9/24/2022 5:16:14 PM)

DAMN! 31-0 Gophers with 13 to play. This is a beat down.

stfrank -> RE: Gopher Football (9/24/2022 5:40:14 PM)

Wow, now 34-0 and we used just about the entire 4th quarter on that drive.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (9/24/2022 7:46:33 PM)

I liked the offensive game plan. Having Ciarrocca back makes a big difference. Good game plan. Good play calling. It looked like Michigan State was selling out to stop Ibrahim early. The Gophers were aggressive with the pass from the first play. State couldn't get a handle on the Gophers RPO all game. Finally the Gophs just ground them down in the second half.

Something I have been waiting to say until I saw them play a legitimate team is that I actually like the new O-line better than the vaunted behemoth line from last year. This bunch has a lot more nasty to them than the Faalele, Andries edition. State has a couple of strong edge rushers, who were non-existent today. It's become a common thing to see the RB stopped at the end of a gain only to have the big uglies bulldoze the whole pack forward for another 5 yards. They even plowed the whole pack into the end zone on a couple of occasions. They aren't as big, but they are more physical and are better at getting to the next level.

The defense was good too. They only times they allowed State to move the ball, they forced turnovers to kill those drives. Sucks that the scrubs gave up a TD with a few seconds to go, but the starters looked really good.

Looking forward to the Gophers showing up in the rankings this week.

The Gophers delivered a true back breaker today as well. Down 17-0, MSU took the opening drive of the second half down to the Gophers 5 only to have Minnesota force a fumble and recover on the 10. Then the Gophs methodically drove 90 yards for a TD and a 24-0 lead. State was done. Dagger delivered. Next series a Gopher DE sniffed out the screen and picked off the pass inside the State 30. The Gophers scored again and the dirt was shoveled into the MSU grave.

Yes, The way the third quarter played out was perfect. MSU takes the ball on the kickoff, looks like they got their shit together at half time, drives, eats some clock, then ultimately doesn’t score. Gophers immediately eat more clock…and score. And that’s basically the whole quarter. Had to be very demoralizing for MSU.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (9/25/2022 10:25:37 AM)

It was a great response but I would prefer for Fleck to avoid that passive stupidity he used in the first half. If they score there and not fumble I’m guessing it’s a whole different ballgame

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Football (9/25/2022 1:41:36 PM)

Rated.

#21 in new poll. I thought it would be higher, actually. Low to mid teens.

What was the passive stupidity?

Phil Riewer -> RE: Gopher Football (9/26/2022 7:42:35 AM)

Optimistic that Morgan is gaining trust in Jackson, Wright, and Brown-Stephens. 23-26 for 268 and 3TDS.

520 yards of offense.

I take it the demolition of MSU counts as a good win.

Correct.

There was a scary moment when Mo came off of the field.

We were dominating but the score was still pretty close. Go for the jugular at the end of the first. Like I mentioned, they got the ball to start the second half and came out a different team. They marched it right down our throats only to see their QB make a big mistake at the goal line. if they score there it's a whole different ballgame IMO.

I'm not saying we got lucky. We bulldozed them for a whole game. Just don't go all passive when you have a chance to put your foot on their throat. I'm not saying that statement when we're on our own 20 in that situation. We were in a great situation to get, at least, 3 more points on the board.

With his history, yeap. I saw "8th year of eligibility" on that one [&:]

Thankfully he was ok.

I've criticized him plenty in the past but he was outstanding on Saturday.

The one thing I saw (other than the MSU coach sweating profusely) was that MSU didn't have an answer for our Oline or Mo.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/1/2022 11:15:25 AM)

Gophers fail to show up early.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/1/2022 11:21:40 AM)

Morgan with a bone head pass attempt, picked off.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/1/2022 11:35:25 AM)

Dumb desperate call. When you are the better team you don't need to do that.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/1/2022 12:06:49 PM)

Morgan with no pocket awareness holds it forever. Strip sack luckily flew right to Potts.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/1/2022 12:07:42 PM)

Whoopee, finally on the board.

10-3 [:o]

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (10/1/2022 12:09:56 PM)

The Gophers spent the week reading their press clippings
