1st intermission interview with new Beavers assistant coach Eddie Olczyk Jr. Impressive kid behind the mic. Chip off the old block.

Just made my annual donation to Lakeland Public TV in support of Beaver hockey. Hope the complimentary cap fits. I'm one for two in that department in the past.

Nice work Matt. Need to put one away here in this period.

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (11/27/2016 2:10:28 PM)

Well, at least they were non-conference games. Not gonna sweat it too much. Maybe it will be a positive, and they'll come out ready to play next weekend.

Cant believe he's coaching already.
Played with one of my former players a couple years ago in Illinois.

Tough weekend. We were #3 in the Pairwise last week. Now we're down to #15 after getting swept by Princeton. Lucky we didn't fall all the way out of the Top 16.

It's that damn old fashioned pick and roll/back door crap they run there ......

Boys!!!

HOUGHTON, Mich. -- The Bemidji State men’s hockey team remains unbeaten in Western Collegiate Hockey Association play after beating Michigan Tech 3-1 in Houghton, Mich. on Friday night.
The Beavers (12-4-1, 12-0-1-1 WCHA) extended their league lead to 11 points over the Huskies (9-7-3, 8-3-2-1 WCHA) in the WCHA standings with the win....

drew -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/4/2016 10:22:39 AM)

Finally suffered our first league loss last night at Tech, 2-1. Overall, not a bad weekend though. To travel to our closest competitor and to leave town with the same 8 point cushion has to be considered a success.

We are halfway through the WCHA season. We have positioned ourselves very well to win the league. Pretty fun, since we were hoping to compete for home ice going into the season. To make the NCAAs, we are probably going to have to win the league. WCHA has been awful in non-conference this year (ourselves included), so we are going to get killed in the Pairwise. The North Star Cup and series against Duluth will be our chances to make up some ground there.

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/10/2016 7:38:22 AM)

Another successful night for the Beavers, winning a shootout against LSSU for 2 of the 3 points. Still only one loss in the WCHA. 12 wins and a 7 point lead over 2nd place Michigan Tech.

I'm back at Sanford again tonight. If we lose tonight, I'll stay away the rest of the year!!

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/10/2016 9:27:31 PM)

A 3-2 win, so you're safe! Outshot them by many. Great job Beavers! What a great season. Too bad the regular season title isn't gonna mean a whole lot this year. We are dominating! But the WCHA tourney will just be a crapshoot.

Really good game. It felt like we outplayed them handily, but still had to grind our way through a one goal game the whole 3rd period. We created a ton of good chances though, so it was a really fun game to see. I definitely was not impressed to be down 13 seconds into the game, but maybe it lit a fire under the Beavers.

The Lakers goalie's mom sat right in front of me. He's a MN boy from Stillwater. She was on pins and needles the whole game the way BSU was peppering him!

We tied the Dogs in Duluth last night. We actually scored in 3 on 3 OT for the win. It would be sweet to beat them at Sanford tonight. It would make up for some of the bad nonconference so far, and give us a shot at an at-large bid.

Great news! Would be huge to get a W tonight. Still a longshot for any at-large bid for the Beavers, but this would help a ton.

You're probably right. We would likely have to win tonight, win the North Star Cup, and play similar to the first half to get an at large. WCHA has been horrible in non conference this year. Did you see Princeton pasted MN State last night? I don't think they've lost since beating us.

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/17/2016 9:26:34 PM)

Just caught the end of tonight's game. Looks like it must have been a good one, but it just didn't go our way. Duluth wins 2-1.

drew -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/18/2016 8:38:38 AM)

It was a good game. They probably deserved to win, they had us hemmed up in our zone a lot in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Good crowd at the Sanford from what I saw last night. The -40 wind chills were enough to keep me home last night.

Bitzer continues to pile up the honors.

http://www.wcha.com/men/pres1617/201612/dec19wpm.php

He's gotta be a serious contender for the Hobey Baker, right?

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/24/2016 8:36:26 AM)

Anyone know if Bitzer was actually born in Moorhead, or anywhere in Minnesota? If so, and if he wins, that will make 10 Minnesota-born Hobey Baker winners. 2nd place is Massachusetts (5).

Trivia: Which school has had the most Hobey Baker winners?

SoMnFan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/24/2016 3:21:54 PM)

Just saw your question.
He was born in West Fargo. (or at least that's where he played his first hockey)
Moved to Moorhead as a Bantam (15 years-old), after parents divorced.

Thanks for the info. Couldn't find it anywhere.

Do you know the answer to my trivia question?
