SCSU starts the season ranked 10th. Takes care of business with an easy sweep of St. Thomas.

Bemidji State beat St Cloud State 3-1!!!

Money doesn't necessarily buy wins.

Congratulations on a huge win for BSU. Now hopefully SCSU kicks their ass tonight. Why the comment about money buying wins? If SCSU ever spent to buy wins I would say it's been working pretty good, but I don't think SCSU has ever spent money to buy wins. That's the University of Minnesota.

Huge win for the Beavers! Should be interesting tonight.

Huskies capture a beaver and eat it. 4-1.

A split at Denver ranked #2 in the nation isn't a bad weekend's work for SCSU.

kgdabom -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (11/28/2022 1:54:10 AM)

An 8-1 combined score against Colorado College for the Huskies this weekend. Looking real good.

kgdabom -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (11/28/2022 6:25:23 PM)

New college hockey poll today. SCSU 3rd with 10 of the 50 1st place votes.
Minnesota 4th with 3 first place votes.

kgdabom -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/5/2022 11:47:05 AM)

Huskies keep rolling. 13-5 combined score sweep on North Dakota. I think the forced PC name change signaled the end of UND as a hockey power.

stfrank -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/5/2022 12:39:17 PM)

You missed the part where St Cloud is #4 in pairwise and #4 in the poll with 3 1st place votes.
Minnesota is #1 in pairwise and #3 in the poll with 6 1st place votes. [:D]

Minnesota is doing well. When I posted a week ago my information was correct. New week new poll. Minnesota just passed SCSU in the latest poll despite the Huskies dominating sweep. I would guess that Minnesota got a sweep also this weekend and against a better opponent. I'm happy for Minnesota. I expected them to get better when they purchased Bob Motzko and I was right about that.
I'm happy for SCSU. I pretty much cheer for all the Minnesota schools when they're not playing the Huskies. I don't give a rat's ass about the pairwise until the end of the season, but good for Minnesota to be leading that. The pairwise is IIRC just a formula that has no human element of judgment in it and that's why I ignore it for now.

kgdabom -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/11/2022 10:24:45 PM)

Huskies with a 7-3 win at Miami OH, on Friday followed by an inexplicable 5-0 Loss on Saturday. Just one exhibition match left before the Home and Home with the rodents. It will be fun.

How is Ben Hanowski not in the SCSU Athletics HOF? That's just bizarre.

Sounds good enough for the HOF to me.

Even more surprised Mark Parrish is not in the SCSU Athletics HOF. Wow!...high standards there.

January Hockey Schedule for SCSU
Home and Home with Rodents
CC at Herb Brooks
#1 Ranked Denver at Herb Brooks
UMD at Duluth.

It's going to be a wild ride and winning half those games would not be a disaster.

kgdabom -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (1/6/2023 12:36:49 PM)

Huskies vs Rodents this weekend. I love it. Go SCSU.

kgdabom -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (1/10/2023 4:12:00 PM)

So close to a sweep or win and tie. Disappointing.

stfrank -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (1/28/2023 8:52:26 PM)

It looks like the Bulldogs are coming on this weekend with a win over the Huskies last night and a 4-2 lead after 2 periods tonight. Sandelin always seems to have his teams playing their best towards the end of the year that's for sure.

stfrank -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (1/29/2023 7:07:23 AM)

Ouch, the Huskies took a hit in pairwise down to #5 after the Bulldogs completed the sweep last night. That #1 ranking in the poll so many times trips teams up and is usually harder to stay on top than to get there.

Zach Whitecloud was a great player at Bemidji State.

ESPN's John Anderson made fun of his name.

Whitecloud is the first Indigenous NHL player from the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation.
