McMurfy -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/20/2016 11:45:03 AM)

I gave you a 5 star as well.

I'm also nominating my youtube post for

"Post of the Week"

I keep watching it and laughing.

I can imagine vike board posters as

The guy crying who won't advance
The guy who picks up his arm
Sergeant Whats his name
Multiple guys on fire.

The Omaha Beach connection with the vike board posters was classic. Yep....it was a post of the week. Went back and rated it as 5 star.

MDK -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/20/2016 2:26:30 PM)

I started following the Vikes in 1968. They went 8-6 and won the Central Division for the first time.

I followed them through 4 Super Bowl defeats.....not really defeats, debacles.

I continued to follow them but not as passionately until the 1998 season. Then, all my hopes were raised with the 15-1 record and offense that could not be stopped. Then came the knee with 40 seconds to go in the first half against the Falcons.....then Gary Anderson's first FG miss of the season.

Some hope was revived in the Brett Favre season of 2009, only to see a season go down the tubes with a too many men on the field penalty.

So when the Vikes started 5-0, it was a nice start. But after all the pain of losing without a single season where we won it all, it really is too hard to get too excited about the Vikings. They were underachievers in their Super Bowl losses and underachievers in the NFC title game losses.

twinsfan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/24/2016 2:40:26 PM)

So the Vikes are 2-8 in their last 10 games. That's a .200 winning percentage (tough one). Even the Twins aren't that bad.

Any truth to the rumor that Blair Walsh was flying the Vikings charter last night?
Heard he was looking to change professions.

Forth-bush-bath can't kick PAT's but FGs

Typical of the type of season this eroded into.

Thielen one of the lone bright spots. Keeper

Too many of the other WRs on this team have talent but no drive.

When the guy from Mankato is your only guy showing professional ability ... you have ISSUES

The GM has to go. The inability to recognize OL deficiencies and address them

And multiple decent opps to pick talent and draft ? guys who contribute zero

I'll take

Kendricks
Thielen

and probably a few others, but those 2 are guys going 100% every time.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/24/2016 3:58:31 PM)

If they don't clean house on O I'm not sure I even care to watch next year. It's like saying "f-it. we don't care" so why should I?

I can understand a 4 yard check down on 3rd and 10 when the game is 1 score. When you are down 14+ or that is your only play on 3rd and X (doesn't matter the distance) someones head needs to roll. Zimmer tried to pin all this on Turner with his complete hands off the offense approach.

He is directly responsible. If Shurmur keeps his job I want the whole staff gone. They cannot piss down our legs and pretend it's raining anymore.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/24/2016 5:30:49 PM)

Kevin Seifert
NFL Nation

Players play, coaches coach and all that. No one wants to hear about players going rogue on a team's game plan, as it appears the Vikings' defensive backs did today in Green Bay. But even if you're directing animosity toward the players, it's important to step back and ask, "What circumstance would compel a group of players to defy the coach?" The answer isn't likely to reflect highly on the coach, or at least the environment he has created.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/24/2016 5:32:59 PM)

So the db's decided not to have Rhodes cover Nelson in the first half.

Really?

Zim's losing some of his players, it appears.

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/24/2016 5:33:11 PM)

We don't simply drive our teams into the ditch here .... we plummet them off the nearest cliff,

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/24/2016 5:34:32 PM)

I thought Zimmer was the best candidate at the time to come in here and run a tight ship.
I was wrong.

As has been correctly pointed out previously, the first 5 games were an illusion with the D and special teams scoring on returns.

Zimmer has run the offense into the ground. Spielman has assisted him.

Something stunk when Turner quit mid season. As much as most of us wanted him gone that simply does not happen. This past week Zimmer confirmed, snarky-ish, that they aren't friends because of it.

It's time to clean house.

again

Sigh

Wash rinse repeat

minimal open window slams shut quickly with these guys

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/24/2016 5:47:17 PM)

Ya know what? I'm fine with it. I told the wife that the Vikes will win the SB before I die. I got a ways to go [8|]

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/24/2016 5:53:50 PM)

I'll need to research the whole Ted Williams thingy ......

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/24/2016 5:56:46 PM)

Careful man. You'll wake up 100 and Matt won't be randomly joking about square pizza. It'll be the topic of every word out of his mouth. He'll be in non-stop bitch mode about it. And we still won't have a title.

twinsfan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/24/2016 6:23:49 PM)

If it wasn't for me, I'm not sure who you guys would pick on.

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/24/2016 6:26:16 PM)

You'll need to worry ... if we STOP talking about you. [:D]

I mentioned it in another thread, but when you let one player decide if/when and how he plays and practices, you better be prepared
for the consequences.

Maybe we'll give Peterson a lifetime achievement deal for three more years. No preseason, three lockers instead of two, only has to play
if he feels like it, not required to block or run even a rudimentary route, and NO shotgun offense.

The football version of the Joe Mauer contract.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/25/2016 6:52:28 AM)

Christmas with the in-laws last night.

"If it weren't for all those injuries, the Vikings wouldn't have lost all those games."

Not ALL those games. But

- if they'd cut bait with Walsh and taken care of kicker after the Seattle debacle

- if they'd had actual o-line depth instead of TJ Clemmings

- if they had an actual offensive philosophy instead of "don't screw up"

They may have not lost all those games.

bstinger -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/25/2016 1:39:41 PM)

I've lost faith in Zimmer as the HC and Spielman as the GM.
