Minnesota Vikings

Super Bowl odds: 1.9 percent (tied for 16th)

A trendy Super Bowl pick last season after breaking through with a division title in 2015, Minnesota's season never really got going. Teddy Bridgewater and Adrian Peterson combined to play 84 offensive snaps, and while Sam Bradford played better than anyone might have expected, the Vikings' offense was dead on arrival thanks to the league's worst O-line. The defense kept the team afloat during the first half of the season, but once Harrison Smith went down with a high ankle sprain and their astronomical turnover rate regressed, the Vikings couldn't keep up.

General manager Rick Spielman has invested in the offensive line this offseason, spending big to add a pair of new tackles in Riley Reiff and Mike Remmers. The interior of the line, anchored by rookie third-rounder Pat Elflein at center, might be a bigger concern now. The defense should be great, and if Bradford can stay healthy and one of the young receivers -- most likely Stefon Diggs -- breaks out, the Vikings have both the stars and the depth to challenge any team in the NFC.

How can the writer say the season never got started with a 5-0 start and all the early accolades?

twinsfan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (9/8/2017 1:18:08 PM)

Chiefs safety Eric Berry was a good soldier in 2016.

He wanted to get a long-term deal done, and the team said it wanted to, as well. But negotiations never quite heated up – and it wasn’t for a lack of effort on Berry’s part – so he ended up playing the season on a franchise tag that provided him with a hefty $10.8 million salary, but not the long-term security he craved.

So in an interview with The Star on Thursday, Berry made it clear that he had no intention of playing next season under the franchise tag again.

“I’ll just take that time to chill with my family, honestly, (and) I’ll sit the season out,” Berry said, when asked what he’ll do if the Chiefs tag him again. “I just want what’s right. That’s it.”

Karma?

Not really. He signed a new contract in February making him the highest paid safety in the league.

I believe a Franchise tag makes you among the top 3 at your position for one year. A long term deal would have given him more guaranteed money, although the last few years usually aren't fulfilled, so with the possibility that he never plays again,$25 million guaranteed might turn out better than one year $10 million, but either way, nice problem to have.

They should've expected a player in his prime to suffer a season ending injury?

I don't believe in caving into a guy that threatens to sit out while under a multi-million dollar contract.

Vikings are on the clock.
Game starts at 6:10
Which means the first "dammit we suck, the season's over" post should show up at around, oh ... 6:45 or 6:50.
They usually come about exactly 30 minutes after the first "Bradford sucks" post.

Bradford treats completions the way Mauer treats Walks.

Better safe than deep.

Not sold on him or Hamburger Helper.
Was admiring the work of David Carr yesterday though.

McMurfy -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (9/11/2017 6:00:34 PM)

Does Dalvin Cook always look 10lbs overweight to anybody else?

McMurfy -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (9/11/2017 6:01:05 PM)

But, besides those two posts.

Love me some Vikings!

Outstanding comparison.

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (9/11/2017 6:04:33 PM)

I want all the Viking fans who want Bradford to hold on the ball (in order to make these deep throws) .... to play a couple downs behind this OLine.
I've played behind a porous OLine.
I won't be screaming at him to hold on to the ball longer.
I know what he's going thru.
Until we learn how to protect properly, or at least play-call properly, in order to allow our receivers and QB to develop their deep route game, nothing will change.

Its been his MO everywhere he's been.

He's got all the talent, but he's a front runner. Does great when everything is perfect, but he's never been a guy to elevate his team.

He's a tease.

Correction!

6:09 !!!!
Earlier than even expected!

You're most likely right about the line stuff Scott.

The only football I ever played was Futbol.

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (9/11/2017 6:17:43 PM)

Getting gouged.
Huge facemask penalty kills the homefield mo.
Moving at will now.

Just wish the ones who think its easy tried it
As usual, you have enough sense to admit it might be tough

Our OLine is historically brutal
I had one that consisted of underweight underclassmen, because that's all we had.
I loved em like brothers because they were all our school had.
These clowns the Vikes have, we went lookin for and pay well. That's hard to take.

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (9/11/2017 6:25:06 PM)

So .... 8 yards deep and we choose to get it at the 15 instead of the 25.
Gotchya.
Good decision kid.

McMurfy -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (9/11/2017 6:26:30 PM)

I went to a school with 1500 students, any smaller and I would have played football cause they'd a needed me.
But we also needed Dead Head, , beer drinking, woman chasing Mullet wearing soccer players too.

Lucky dog
I had to run track or we wouldn't have had a team
Same with BB, FB, Class plays, etc.
Graduating class of 14
Ya, you heard me.

David Levine -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (9/11/2017 6:28:15 PM)

Line is giving Sam all the time in the world right now.

The running game, not so much...

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (9/11/2017 6:28:52 PM)

YAC?
Is that allowed?
Not a Viking staple.
