Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (1/7/2019 11:15:47 AM)

This first round is a vindication to dinosaurs like Zimmer who think you win running the ball and playing good defense.

The Colts racked up 21, then just let the Texans offense fall all over itself.

The Eagles got back in it by throwing, which actually opened up some running.

The Cowboys played a Seattle team who refused to let Russell Wilson win the game.

The Chargers played the worst team that made the playoffs in some time.

At some point the NFL has to stop pretending division winners should get the home games. Seed the best 6 in, and play in each division.

OR if you're really greedy, screw the first round by, and seed 8 in. Make the best teams work in the first round too.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (1/7/2019 11:17:19 AM)

The teams pining for Harbaugh as their head coach better be satisfied with just getting to the playoffs.
His way is not the way any more

Hats off to Andy Reid. He recognized the change. Been around long enough to get it and adapt.

KC may not get there, because their defense is so bad, but they will go down swinging on offense.

He's basically Zimmer with the advantage of being a HC while the rules still allowed defenses to dominate.

Agreed, its an offensive league by design now. You have to embrace that or you are only hurting yourself. There are exceptions but when the dust settles you are going to see teams with top shelf QBs in the Super Bowl 9 times out of 10.

Lamar Jackson is a joke, he is Tim Tebow reborn. Run after looking at 1 read is only going to work for a while. Teams will spot that weakness on tape and exploit it. Very surprised Flacco didn't start second half.

A guy like Jackson would be helped greatly in NFL Europe was still around. Some QB's need seasoning and get the snaps necessary to change their mindset. Too bad the new XFL couldn't have partnered with the NFL for at least the QB position. Sloter could use some time behind center.

The Chargers had a defense of 4 down linemen and 7 defensive backs for 58 of 59 defensive snaps. If Harbaugh were smart he would have shifted to a power running game and bludgeoned those little DBs to death. That game was within reach. Harbaugh suffers from the same affliction as many a coach, a very limited ability to adapt in game time.

If he had, the Ravens could have come back to win that one.

The game was close enough that the Ravens could have won on that last drive had Jackson not fumbled.

Rest assured that 7 DBs shit isn't going to work next week against Belichick.

Hats off to Andy Reid? He's always been an Offensive Coach. and that team has almost no defense.

Of course it looks like he adapted, that he gets it, but in reality he's just taking advantage where he always wished he could be before.

And he's got a much better that people think Colts team coming to KC next week.

He hasn't won shit yet.

Oh, and for every expert who's gotten mad at me for making fun of Zimmers "we gots to run the ball more" ..... here's one last [sm=xp.gif]
If you think 2019 NFL football is about some pound it run game, you are CRAZY
Those 4 teams yesterday probably all will TELL you they want to run the ball.
When the shit starts to hit the fan, its passpasspasspasspasspasspasspassrunpasspasspasspassrunpasspasspasspasspasspasspass
Ahead, OR behind.
Running the ball is done only to surprise people, in 95% of the important games. its all about WHEN you run. our dinosaurs will never get that apparently.

San Diego perhaps learned a lesson. Sitting on the ball almost cost them a game that they completely dominated for 50 minutes.

Mysteriously similar to Mike Zimmer coached teams. [&o]

I watched the game....Lamar Jackson is talented....can't hold him back the hold game and the defense starts tiring....If you don't mix in subs or you have some injuries during the game the starters get gassed by games end.....nothing to do with coaching.

I would not object to an eight-team playoff format. The bye-week is not always an advantage as it takes team out of a rhythm that began in early September.

Kubiak joins the Vikings as "offense advisor"?

Didn't see that one coming.

If the Vikings start out 1-3 next season, Zimmer will be immediately replaced by Kubiak.

Kubiak can't be an OC or HC anymore.....he has a history of mini strokes and has had to quit HC jobs twice after suffering them. Too many hours and high stress thus the advisor role.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (1/21/2019 10:25:03 AM)

Patriots
Rams

Sunday games showed me how far the Vikings are away from the Super Bowl.

Could just as well be a total crap team. They don't dominate. Zimmer doesn't know how to beat winning teams.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (1/21/2019 10:26:26 AM)

State of officiating in the NFL is as bad as ever.

Horrible calls and missed calls

Game pace is dying with all the reviews and replay challenges.

Corleone -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (1/21/2019 11:05:26 AM)

This is the only sound I hear when I see Sean Payton bitching about the officiating:

Second this. The Vikings will never win anything with Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer running the show. And frankly, I am tired of the Wilf Brothers as owners who are as much to blame as anyone for trusting in RS for twelve years and having one playoff victory on a miracle last play to show for it.

Absolutely

You reap what you sow.
No one deserves heartache more than that dude.
He is a miserable s.o.b. 99% of the time from what I have seen.
He's already got one title he didn't deserve.
His arrogance cost them that game more than any officiating did.
Should never have come down to one call.
Constantly thinks he has to prove he's a genius to everyone.
3 runs there at the ten after they got the first down, and they win.
But noooooooo, he had to throw a couple plays in there that were designed to make him look smart.
In real time, the missed PI wasn't that bad. Slowed down and viewed a million times, yeah, it sucked. That's life, pal.
Couple weeks ago, the Saints benefited in a huge game from a couple PI calls that were just as bad the other way ... and I heard no bitching from them that day.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (1/22/2019 8:45:04 AM)

Payton under utilized Kamara on running plays and tried to sneak in Hill on a few plays to many.....He should own up to that.

To have that lead in the 2nd quarter and give the game away....that is on him.

No, throwing himself on the floor, kicking and screaming, "NOT FAIR...NOT FAIR...NOT FAIR...", is much more Payton's style.

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (1/22/2019 1:06:42 PM)

Andy Reid now whining that his DLman who lined up a yard off-sides, should have been warned first.
Who knew?
That would have stopped the Saints controversy too ... "hey you ... DBguy .... don't hit him and nothing will happen here ..."
I like it. Problems solved!

Trekgeekscott -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (1/22/2019 3:55:40 PM)

There is actually a lawyer in Louisiana suing the NFL to make them invoke a rule that allows them to restart the game at the point of the foul.

It won't go anywhere but it is being reported on PFT
