I mentioned it on the Vikings thread. This Chargers team is not good. They've been on him all year here. Just way too many TO's as we saw today. It's not like our Dbacks were making great plays. They just don't take care of the football.

You aren't allowed to say negatives in the main Vikes thread but there are always both, no matter the outcome.


Positives:


Hunter. It's a damn shame nobody is intelligent enough to pronounce his first name correctly so he can get the props he deserves. Dude was amazing.

Remember when Barr was used aggressively and it worked? We did that for 2 plays, that I remember, and they worked [:-]

We blocked a punt and overall (minus the missed XP) our ST's were lights out.

Not many penalties (Rhodes was in that much….hugh…..weird).

The first drive play calling was pretty incredible.

Meh's:

The TO's were massive but, IMO, the were more of just a really sloppy LA team. Nice to have though.

After the first drive we went into "well it worked that drive lets continue to do the same shit all half" mode on offense. They adjusted at half, which was nice.

The bad:

Our secondary is just a train wreck right now. If I say that on the 'other thread' I'd get roasted by certain posters but it's true. Tons of TO's and a low score are great but that shit needs cleanup or we are 1 and done in the playoffs.

Injuries. Cook needs time off. He's been ineffective for weeks. Let the dude heal for the playoffs.

Bottom line is any win on the road is huge. Continue to the move the train down the tracks.

I have bled purple since 1961
But I have to admit yesterday, was the very first time in my life I had twinges of "I may stop caring" about this team.
The insistence on settling for field goals is something that has always bothered me about being a Viking fan.
It feels to me like we are currently embracing that, and that is the one thing that might drive me off the ledge.
I simply can't stand that type of "plan". And "settling for field goals" doesn't mean your third down play selection.
It means your approach. To the game, and to each series, and to the entire season.
Until you fully commit to stepping on people's throats, you will never win it all.
Pats forever, Eagles a year ago, Ravens now, 49ers and Giants decades ago …… you finish people off. Not just late in games, you do it all game long.
No one wins big games playing it safe, imo.
I enjoyed the result yesterday, but think it had mostly to do with the Chargers ineptitude. Prove me wrong, please.
