Only the Vikings can turn a 21-0 lead into a 3-0 lead.
Game was over when Cousins sailed the first 3rd and goal into uncatchable territory.
Has no concept of what is happening at the time.
Worst prime time QB in history. Lucky us.
Worst HC in prime time history. Even luckier us.
What a mess.
Rarely do you see a coaching staff THAT out-coached.
GB is not good. Not even close. Its not like they are going to get anything done, moving forward. And they just totally worked us.
Knew EVERY play we called. Their defense looked all-world. Because their coaches read us like a book.
That's as bad a game as Erin Rodgers will ever play, and we peed it down our leg.
Hell, the refs even gave us chances to walk away with it. And we simply just handed it back.

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/24/2019 7:33:37 AM)

Btw ... how ironic was it, when Diggs overthrew a wide open Cousins? [:D]
Mn Viking Football in a nutshell.
We can't get out of our own way.
I at one time was embarrassed to be a Viking fan, because of the 4 SB losses.
I didn't realize how good we had it then.
Because right now, we are basically just a punchline in some very bad jokes.

ronhextall -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/24/2019 8:10:05 AM)

Seems like Zimmer picks the worst times and dumbest plays for trick plays.

Maybe it’s because they never work.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/24/2019 8:23:24 AM)

MIN decided to punt to GB from the MIN 45 on 4th & 1 with 14:14 remaining in the 4th while losing 10 to 17.

With a Surrender Index of 11.9, this punt ranks at the 96th percentile of cowardly punts of the 2019 season, and the 94th percentile of all punts since 2009

This one call seemed to doom the Vikings in a big way. Not only did Zimmer decide to punt from his own 45 on fourth-and-short, Minnesota called a timeout only to give the ball away via said punt mere seconds later.

The combination of bad clock management and conservative play-calling impacted Minnesota in a big way. Packers star running back Aaron Jones then put the game on ice a short while later with a long touchdown run. Just a horrible moment for Zimmer from an in-game coaching perspective.

Should be the last nail in the coffin. Time to call it quits.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/24/2019 8:25:24 AM)

Ya think??

Burnt toast. That’s the best way to describe what Rhodes has been this season for Minnesota. The former Pro Bowler entered Week 16 having yielded a 126 quarterback rating when targeted this season.

It did not get much better against Davante Adams and the Packers Monday night. As the primary guy on Adams, Rhodes was the main culprit in allowing Green Bay’s No. 1 receiver to catch 13-of-16 targets in a game that Aaron Rodgers struggled throwing to other players.

This is going to be a major issue for the Vikings in the playoffs. They simply can’t rely on Rhodes anymore. In fact, it might be time to bench the veteran.

The rest of the coverage people weren't much better. Forcing turnovers was the key to not having it handed t them in the first half.

Will the Wilfs be satisfied with one-and-done? Hope not.

There was about a 20 minute stretch in the second half where Rogers threw to that side EVERY down, and we never adjusted to anything they did.
Just kept letting them catch the ball and matriculate down the field, until they eventually scored.
This year has been the worst for simply just allowing paper cuts to eventually kill us.
They need 6? we give them 8. They need 3? We give them 5. Need 17? we give them 25

There's an idiot in charge.

Just boggled my mind. Line up..18 seconds on the shot clock...time out...PUNT

TWICE late they punted. 4th and 1. 4th and a lot.

Who cares at that point if it's 4th and long? down 2 scores and you PUNT?

And the subs QB rating for Rhodes probably not far behind the 126 rating.

ALWAYS easy. And like you said, no change, nothing different.

Griffen invisible, has to be done. 4 man rush gets nothing. Packers rush 3 and all 3 are about to kill the QB when one of them sacks him.

twinsfan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/26/2019 11:39:03 AM)

If the Vikings face the Seahawks and win, they would have a rematch with Green Bay so long as the Packers take care of the Lions.

The light at the end of Monday night’s tunnel is that the Vikings have had plenty of opportunities to win both games against the Pack. In Week 2 they struggled all day on offense and still found themselves within a red zone interception by Cousins of coming back from down 21 to win.

The Packers would deservedly be favored but the Vikings have scored more points than Green Bay this year, allowed fewer points and have both higher offensive and defensive EPA. In two games against the Vikings’ defense, Aaron Rodgers has averaged a well-below-average 6.2 and 5.4 yards per pass attempt.

Certainly the road to the NFC title game isn’t easy no matter who the Vikings play. The last team to win the Super Bowl from the No. 6 spot was the Packers during Rodgers’ prime in 2010. The last team that wasn’t a No. 1 or 2 seed came in 2012. And on the road this year versus winning teams, the Vikings are 0-3.

But if you are looking for the best chance possible, playing Seattle and then Green Bay is probably it. If the 49ers beat the Seahawks and Green Bay wins in Detroit, the path to an NFC crown would require traveling to New Orleans and then the No. 1 offense in the NFC in San Francisco. Not impossible, but far tougher on paper.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/26/2019 11:45:29 AM)

Light at the end of the tunnel is
Zimmer’s approach to every game

Like a train coming at your vehicle
Bound to be a wreck

Which is why there will not be a second round for the postseason Vikings.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/27/2019 1:18:43 PM)

I am getting to the point of indifferent on Coach Zimmer.

If he stays or goes...I won't have a problem either way.

He has a tendency to be slow to adapt. The guys seem to love playing for him though. But he gives guys too long a rope to hang themselves frequently. When it is painfully obvious to even the least educated of football fan that a CB is getting toasted every play, Zimmer sticks with him. When a DE is clearly gassed and can't get to the QB with any frequency anymore he keeps starting him. When opposing teams like Seattle just keep running the ball up the gut and he doesn't adapt it is supremely frustrating.

And this team does not tend to play well from behind.

So if he goes I will be just fine with it.

But I am not quite at the "FIRE HIM" stage yet.

McMurfy -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/27/2019 3:07:13 PM)

Zimmer is a piece of food well past it’s expiration date.

Looks OK on the fridge shelf still, but will only make you sick in the end.

Not sure how any Vikings fan could not be tired of Mike Zimmer. He is one of the worst head coaches in Vikings history. None of his coaching abilities transcends to play on the field.

I am sorry but no. Considering Viking history includes Norm Van Brocklin, Les Steckel, Mike Tice, Bad Childress and Leslie Frrazier...

Zimmer is still in the top half.

Ok, maybe his suckdom is a bit lower on the suck scale but the bar has been set high for cumulative suck.

ronhextall -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/29/2019 11:20:46 AM)

If you look at history a coach wins the super bowl with a team early or not at all.

Message gets old in a hurry.

MDK -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/29/2019 1:58:00 PM)

Vikings will wind up 2 wins 4 losses in their division. The Bears, a terrible team will wind up 4 and 2.
With the talent Zimmer has been given, he is one of the 3 worst coaches in Vikings history.
Don't include Van Brocklin in that group. He was coach of an expansion franchise. The talent Zimmer has had is head and shoulders better than Van Brocklin.Zimmer should absolutely fired after their playoff loss next week. The only worse coach that is obvious is les steckle.

Childress

Tice

Steckel

Zimmer

Can pick some winners, eh?

Glad I missed it. Dome softball started today. Liv struck out 10, one scratch hit in 3 innings. Ooof kid in gassing it up. Catcher has never caught her, had a sore hand after, along with about 6 or 7 passed balls she wasn't ready for.

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins Fans (12/29/2019 4:40:08 PM)

Just a question ..... does it get old for Packers fans even, when they get handed victories weekly?
Just wondering
13 gift-wrapped this year, so far

Beady eyed Rogers kept looking at the refs every play the last ten minutes today
Now? Now? Now? When you gonna throw it big boy? There ya go. Good job.
That was NOT a hit to the head.
So ridiculous
Then they strut around like “yup, we’re awesome”

He's a slightly above adequate coach but will never be great. If above average is good enough by all means keep him. Not for me though.

New Orleans

Bad matchup

Looking ar a blowout if the Vikes try to play not to lose.
