Our prospects may crash and burn, but not our buses.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/12/2015 3:58:25 PM)

MLB.com First mock draft

6. Minnesota Twins
Jon Harris, RHP, Missouri State
Some college arms, like Kyle Funkhouser, are sliding a bit because of performance. Harris, on the other hand, has his arrow pointing up, even if he did leave his last start in the eighth inning because of a blister. Tucker's name is mentioned a lot here as well.

(Florida high school outfielder Kyle Tucker)

Tucker's name has come up as a potential top five pick. His brother, Preston, just made his big league debut for the Astros, and Kyle has the chance to be a better all-around player.

They are a Braves affiliate.

So it's not unfortunate?

djskillz -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/12/2015 6:09:21 PM)

The one downside of the Hicks callup is man, it's tough to look at the Rochester squad on days when Meyer isn't pitching...other than Pinto. Ugly roster.

Kepler with the lone hit so far for Chattanooga. .747 OPS so far. Not exactly "tearing it up" but holding his own for a kid that just turned 22 and is in a tough league in AA. Great to see.

Edit: Almost ditto for Harrison, maybe to an even better extent. 22 years old and has an .830 OPS so far.

We have some depth in our prospects there at Chattanooga, fellas. All of those guys are not that far away.

Harrison has 10 doubles already

15 RBI's now as he drove in Sano, who is 1-2

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/12/2015 6:40:14 PM)

Dustin, you're right, there is not much to follow at AAA right now.

djskillz -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/12/2015 7:15:48 PM)

Yep, Ed. But AA is freaking loaded. Best collection of talent in the minors for any org right now IMO. And one of the best ever.

And you're right on Harrison, Ed. I've been really impressed with his approach this year when I've seen him. Just a professional hitter IMO. And still just 22. The power hasn't translated for him or Kepler yet in terms of HR's, but it still probably will in a few years. Right now both are becoming doubles machines.

Again, so much depth right now on the offensive side.

Hey bud, believe me I'm happy our talent is in MN and just 100 miles from me. [:D]

SoMnFan -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/12/2015 7:30:53 PM)

I'm happy Dougie baseball gets em for awhile, and then Paulie Baseball gets em
We are finally doing things the way they should have been done.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/12/2015 7:30:55 PM)

Zach Jones gave up a dinger to lead off the 8th, Chatt loses game 1 3-2

Kepler 2-3/double, Sano 1-4/double/R, Harrison 1-4/RBI. Buxton threw a runner out at home.

Duffey 7IP 5H/2R/BB/5K

Last month.

In a short time went from 3 to really follow, to 1(Pinto)

I just get the feeling the AA kids will only see Roch playing time when they slump and get a demotion. Else they'll jump right from Chatt to the bigs.

twinsfan -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/13/2015 9:15:35 AM)

We could use Oliveros in our pen.

djskillz -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/13/2015 9:42:30 AM)

Nah. It's like one of those "this doesn't belong" puzzles. He's too good for most of our pen. [:D]

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/13/2015 12:13:22 PM)

Chatt up 3-0, Walker/Kepler rbi doubles, Buxton a walk,and his 9th steal

Berrios 1 hit allowed thru 4

Walker now has 8 doubles. Had 19 all of last year in FTM.

SLG is .559 Lots of strikeouts and only .300 OBP. The power is tantalizing.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/13/2015 12:35:20 PM)
