Sugar Shane is basically "Pam Andersons legs" at this point.

What part of late-inning help did you not read?
Of course you wouldn't bat him for Sano.
I'd like to have a bat present for late-inning Suzuki appearances please.

or giving guys more days off that are scuffling.

I do wish they had worked with Sano in the OF some. Cannot stand having Sugar Shane out there.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/13/2015 9:06:23 AM)

That's one thing I never got.

Sano got some work in at first in ST.

Yet I kept seeing these scouts and such say Sano would wind up playing first some, and in the OF

But at A, AA

it's been third, or DH.

Kepler's running a .416 OBP

47 walks in 88 games.

Makes contact

51k's

those kind of numbers remind be of Brantley/CLE

last year had 52BB/56 K

This year 50BB/36K with 35 doubles, 8 HRs

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/13/2015 11:34:43 AM)

Brandon (@Brandon_Warne) mentioned he's hearing Adrian Salcedo to AAA & Jason Wheeler back to AA. I've heard Nick Burdi's going back to AA.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/13/2015 12:08:26 PM)

Oswaldo Arcia just left the game after being hit in the knee with a pitch

That makes no sense (surprise, surprise).  Yes, Wheeler sucks but Salcedo is in high A and has 13 walks in 20 innings.

Salcedo has been pitching at Chattanooga; took the loss in extras last night

Anyway, it's an indication of the weakness of depth in the system.

Yup, you're right and has only has 20 sucky innings there.

Don't forget he was on 80 game suspension too for roids this year.

So then you're telling me he deserves the promotion then?  [;)]

Twins minor league system ranked 5th:

1. Red Sox

2. Dodgers

3. Rockies

4. Cubs

5. Minnesota Twins

Preseason Top 10: No. 3
Prospects on Top 100 list: 6
No organization has two higher-ranked prospects than outfielder Byron Buxton (No. 1) and third baseman Miguel Sano (No. 4), both of whom have debuted in Minnesota this season, and right-hander Jose Berrios (No. 25) may not be far behind them. Left-hander Tyler Jay (No. 74) is on a fast track after going sixth overall in the 2015 Draft, and Jorge Polanco (No. 87) and Nick Gordon (No. 89) give the Twins a pair of Top 100 shortstops. If righties Kohl Stewart and Alex Meyer can regain some of their lost luster, this system will be even stronger.

6. Pirates

7. Phillies

8. Astros

9. Rangers

10. Yankees

Jay has worked 11 innings

16 Hits/10R/8ER/6B/14 K, ERA 6.35

And likely will be a starter, probably at FTM,next year.

hardy the stuff of "fast track" [8|]

And they are still jacked up about Meyer and Stewart.

Not sure the MLB writing staff took this assignment seriously.

Sano shouldn't count anymore. He's in the majors for good. Buxton will be up for good in September most likely.

Where do we drop on this list without those guys? We'd have to drop into the 20's, right?

I think they'll take a pretty good drop. They should.

Gonsalves is developing; Stewart had a good outing last time, but hardly the stuff of "super prospect"

Kepler carries the torch of the next best position guy.

But.........

Catcher depth stinks

SS depth is tooooo far away

3B depth is non-existent

Bullpen "kids" have struggled, "good" starters are at FTM or lower, after Berrios.

Shouldn't be the stuff of top 10-15

TJSweens -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/14/2015 10:52:27 AM)

The ranking of the Twins minor leagues is the result of perpetually drafting college players and starting them off in rookie ball. They exert early dominance on the lower levels and garner high ratings for the system as a whole. By the time the reach AA, they are pretty pedestrian and have been passed up by younger and more talented players in other organizations.
