ORIGINAL: Stacey King i think bremer and smalley were talking 2 games ago that Rochester hitting coach Chad Allen has buxton incorporating a leg kick into his approach. pretty big deal if true. that is a major change. caught the end of it, sure they were talking about byron. They were....Smalley was giddy about the leg lift. Said that Buxton needs that to keep back on the ball......said it would be huge in getting him to make more contact and cut down on his strikeouts. Bruno is working with Allen on helping Buxton. These are things really hard to change at the big league level but can be address in the minors. Still look for Buxton to have a major impact before this season is done. Did Chad Allen ever hit as well as Buxton did in the low minors? It's weird that Buxton's approach has worked well at every level of the minors, including some success at AAA. Not sure I'd be messing with it. He hasn't really had enough plate appearances in the majors to judge much yet. Although it's obviously concerning the rate at which he was striking out. Not sure how the leg kick will help in that regard, but I suppose it is meant to improve his timing. He has enough pop without a leg kick. Again, the swing change this far in is a bit concerning. He became the #1 prospect in baseball PARTIALLY because of his hitting. To go back to Square One is risky.
