ORIGINAL: TJSweens Sucks? I couldn't agree more with you on that one. He is absolutely putrid. He needs Neil Allen to get reinstated and put him through the series of drills he used last year to turn him around. I get where people might think he doesn't care because Santana is stone faced on the mound. You can't tell if he is having his best game or his worst game by his face. Maybe he is better suited to poker. Santana had a decent stretch of games last season. In 17 starts an even 4.00 ERA, 7 W 5 L, 104 hits allowed in 108 IP (not bad) 82 K, OBA .253 (respectable) and 1.30 WHIP (also respectable). If he had pitched to those stats this season, the Twins would have 5 or 6 more wins during his starts. As it is, the team is looking at an "L" every time he takes the mound. This season, 5.10 ERA, in 65.1 IP he has allowed 77 hits, OBA .300 (terrible) and a 1.50 WHIP. He is closer to Phil Hughes type numbers. Hughes ERA at 5.95, OBA .315 and 1.51 WHIP. YIKES! TR sure knows how to pick em' and waste team money spent on veteran players, especially pitchers. As it is, virtually none of the rostered veteran players are having a decent season. Joe Mauer has been respectable, but has not produced 1B type numbers that you would hope for.
