Very nice to see that Lewis ended the season strong after the big slump.

#MNTwins prospect Jose Miranda won the Appy League title with E-Town last year and just helped Fort Myers take the FSL crown.
In 11 career postseason games he's gone 14-for-41 with 5 2Bs, 2 HRs, 13 RBI, 9 R, 5 BB & 2 HBP.
Slash is .341/.429/.610. Dude knows when to turn it up.

So Borrego is the guy who ran this ship.

They turned it around.

Big time.

When?

When talent joined the average group that was there.

Is Surprise gonna have a good team this year?

Teams rotate every year with those they provide players for. All teams do this.

Probably so fans that travel down there to watch their players can get to see different stadiums every year.

So some cities aren't stuck with the bad systems' "best" prospects year after year.

I'm sad we no longer can be surprised by our boys ...

Arizona Fall League

This year, the Twins sent eight Twins prospects down south: Brent Rooker, Jaylin Davis, Travis Blankenhorn, Hector Lujan, Adam Bray, Devin Smeltzer, Luke Raley, and Griffin Jax. You can read a little about each of those prospects here. All eight will be playing for the Salt River Rafters, who’s also managed by Twins Double-A manager Tommy Watkins. The team also include prospects from the Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies, Miami Marlins, and Washington Nationals.

Luke Raley and Devin Smeltzer were acquired from the Dodgers in the Dozier trade. Adam Bray is from Minneapolis and played collegiate ball for SDSU (Brookings, not San Diego).

First game was yesterday:

Salt River beat Scottsdale in 11 innings 7 to 6.

Winning pitcher was Bray who went 2 innings, no hits, 2 walks and 2 K's. Blown save by Lujan who went 2/3 innings, 3 hits, 3 runs, 2 Earned, 1 walk and 1 K.

Position players were Raley, RF who went 1 for 4 with 2 walks and 1 K
and
Davis, LF who went 2 for 5 with 1 K.

Today's game is at 9:35 pm when Salt River plays Scottsdale again.

SoMnFan -> RE: Players and prospects III (10/12/2018 2:22:47 PM)

Seeing that Bray only threw a couple innings reminded me of something I was thinking the other day ...
Are we maybe going to see some sort of hybrid pitcher/position player type thing one day?
Where you can get a couple innings out of guy, then use him somewhere else?
I understand we are currently in post-season and its a different animal, but ... won't someone start looking at it one day and say Hmmmmm?
Games are more and more "pieced together" these days. I just don't think that will go back the other way.

A game pitched collectively by a staff would work as long as the manager looked up the data and could recognize matchups to have and matchups to avoid.

What you don't want is a manager deciding matchups based solely on lefty pitching to left handed batters, etc.

Gonsalves doesn't belong in top 10 after his control issues at the ML level.

TJSweens -> RE: Players and prospects III (11/12/2018 11:49:01 AM)

I can't believe Gordon is still in the top 10.

twinsfan -> RE: Players and prospects III (11/12/2018 12:01:23 PM)

Romero would have been in the Top 10, but I guess he had too much major league service time to qualify for this list.

Our #11 thru #30 is filled with guys that weren't in the organization 6 months ago - Guys that Falvey and Levine loaed up on during the 2018 trading season. Good work! We are now a strong farm system thanks to the new front office.

Read my mind. That he is at 4 takes away any interest I have in this list.
