Ian Joseph -> 2014 Fantasy Football - General Thread (6/10/2014 12:00:53 PM)

Leagues are beginning to form and mock drafts are in full swing. Thus, its time to open our 2014 FF thread.

Our site fantasy league will be live shortly. Those that participated in 2013 will receive automatic invites and will have a few weeks to join.

On July 1, the league will be open to new participants. The official league thread will also be opened, which will contain all pertinent information to join.

The draft will be either on the evening of Tuesday, September 2 or Wednesday, September 3.

Anybody interested in a fantasy football Yahoo league today? I have created one drafting at 4PM Minnesota time. Fair scoring for all positions with lots of bonuses. Here is a link if you are interested.

https://yho.com/nfl?l=487960&k=c3dd30e04ff417f7

Any questions PM me. I know not much notice. Auction might be pushed back an hour if not filling up.

EDIT: I changed it from Auction to Draft and moved the time to 4PM Minnesota time. Come on somebody join. The way this goes once a few teams are in the league fills fast. Hard to get the first couple teams.

Todd M -> RE: 2014 Fantasy Football - General Thread (8/3/2014 2:41:47 PM)

I joined.

If others do and would prefer and auction draft you can change it to that and I will wing it.

Todd M -> RE: 2014 Fantasy Football - General Thread (8/3/2014 4:13:08 PM)

Sorry it didn't work out.

I pulled out.

Thanks Todd. I was actually able to get it together a little later. But I appreciate the sentiment. I will compete with you in the Talk Vikes league assuming there is room for both of us.

Regarding Auction once you do it you will have a hard time going back. It is really IMO the only fair way to do it. It gives all teams the same shot at all players. Plus you don't sit around twiddling your thumbs between picks. At least not as long as you have budget left to spend.

Lynn G. -> RE: 2014 Fantasy Football - General Thread (8/3/2014 9:55:00 PM)

I'll get the Picks and Survival pools up and running soon.

David F. -> RE: 2014 Fantasy Football - General Thread (8/19/2014 8:47:42 PM)

I see the draft is set as an 'autopick draft'. Does that mean everyone is autopick or is there a set date and time that we can show up and make our own picks?

Rick.. want some feedback on my money league team. League is 0.5 PPR, 1 QB, 3 WR 2 RB, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF, no flex..

1. (12) Dez Bryant (Dal - WR)
2. (17) Montee Ball (Den - RB)
3. (40) Cordarrelle Patterson (Min - WR)
4. (45) Rob Gronkowski (NE - TE)
5. (68) Toby Gerhart (Jax - RB)
6. (73) Jay Cutler (Chi - QB)
7. (96) Kelvin Benjamin (Car - WR)
8. (101) Russell Wilson (Sea - QB)
9. (124) Stevan Ridley (NE - RB)
10. (129) Bernard Pierce (Bal - RB)
11. (152) Devin Hester (Atl - WR)
12. (157) Blair Walsh (Min - K)
13. (180) Cleveland (Cle - DEF)
14. (185) Minnesota (Min - DEF)

After the draft ended, made two separate deals. Made Deal 1 and afterwards, made Deal 2 (for possible obvious reasons).

Deal 1
Dez Bryant
Montee Ball

For

Adrian Peterson
Victor Cruz

Deal 2
Cordarelle Patterson
Bernard Pierce

For

Shane Vereen
Anquan Boldin

Awesome draft for a 14 team PPR. Montee Ball at 17 is almost criminally good. Patterson with KR yards at 40 and Gronk at 45 ridiculous value. Gerhart at 68 another steal. Cutler and Russell a very nice QB combo. Hester makes for a quite good WR when KR is added in. Blair Walsh and Minnesota Homer picks but fine. Like Benjamin also. IMO every pick you made was solid to outstanding. I don't like the trades.
Love Vereen in a full PPR not as much in a half PPR. I would have stuck with Patterson with KR Return Yards.
Love Peterson to death but Cruz for Bryant cost you more than you gained with Peterson to Ball.

Ian Joseph -> RE: 2014 Fantasy Football - General Thread (9/1/2014 7:54:51 PM)

Looking at the trades, I can see why I wouldn't want to do them. I did give up a lot of potential firepower, but I did it at the expense of running back stability.

From historical purposes of this league, WR production isn't necessarily a dime a dozen, but it can be had becuz of the return yardage. Patterson is certainly the best of both worlds, but bringing in Vereen was vital.

The real good thing is I'm so solid at the QB position, that barring injury to one of them, I can sell one for a king's ransom later in the season, presumably for a monster WR, if that's what my team is lacking.

No question the moves appear to be an improvement at RB. However, you traded away potentially the two best WRs in the league in a half PPR league for a guy who is iffy for this year in Cruz and a guy who is most likely nothing more than bench material in Boldin. I appreciate that you asked for my take on the trade. Your trades could certainly turn out for the best. You asked I called it as I saw it. Good luck and you will need it facing me in the Talk Vikes league.
