Twins smaller payroll to reflect less emphasis on megadeals for free agents.

So the media helps spin this.

I guess it's what happens when real players don't want to come to MN to play.

Why would Perez have the edge over Stewart, who showed he can do the job?

Stewart has so much more upside over Perez. It is mind boggling.

Almost as bad as handing the keys of the shortstop position to Punto over Harris.

I could see us going with the starting staff we have, and then trading for a big ace for the 2nd half run.

I could see us going with the starting staff we have and doing the Rochester Shuttle for the 2nd half fade.

The "Rochester Shuffle" I love it.

Phil Miller spins the Boy Genuis's el-cheapo Pohlad philosophy into infinite wisdom. The article headline should read "Twins FO Figures the Team Will Suck Again This Season But The Food and Beer Options Will Be Great!"

Our best position player, Eddie Rosario, does not even rank in the Top 10 left fielders in MLB according to ANY of the MLB Network experts. Ouch!!!

I hope both Buxton and Sano figure it out this season. Too much potential to not see it through to the end.

Sounds like he's worked hard this off-season. He understands what a crucial point in his career this is. A decent year and he's ready to cash in big with the multi-million multi-year, set for life type contracts. Another year of batting .200 and striking out every 3 ABs and he could find himself out of baseball.

I still think he can get it together. I hope Sano can too, but he's a different case all together.

The Twins have a chance to be much improved. They have a chance to have as solid a lineup 1-9 since who knows when. But I have the feeling that for all the changes, the season still hinges on Buxton and Sano. The rest are decent, but Sano and Buxton are still where the potential star power lies, even after all these seasons of disappointment from them.

I think that Nelson Cruz will be a great tutor and mentor for Buxton!!

Both should see mega AB in ST and should have to play in road games as well.

I totally get why Falvey doesn't want to add a position player to this roster...he's banking on Buxton and Sano to take a step forward. Fine. BUT...the pitching staff is bad, very bad. He needs to add AT LEAST one decent starter AND two bullpen arms that can actually get outs late in a game. Do that and I'll be happy.

It's kinda crazy hearing moaning about the Twins not doing anything this offseason. Signing Nelson Cruz, Jonathan Schoop and CJ Cron is something. Lots of something.

Perhaps, but once again, no pitching help.

Our definitions of doing "something" differ I guess.
Greatly.
They're taking a couple stabs at guys who could be done, or simply not-that-good.
It looks lot like 2018 II to me. When we entered "hoping" that Lomo (Cron) and Dozier (Schoop) would carry us.
Pardon me for not buying WS tickets.
I'll say Cruz is a "nice" signing, if he stays healthy and still wants to be here after a month or two.
There was pitching available early, and they sat it out, just like they always sit it out.

Nelson Cruz HR totals the last 10 seasons:

2009: 33
2010: 22
2011: 29
2012: 24
2013: 27
2014: 40
2015: 44
2016: 43
2017: 39
2018: 37

Hard to find a more sure power source than this guy.

Schoop hit 25, 32 and 21 HRs the last three years. He was hurt a lot of last season when he dropped down to 21. He was an All-star in 2017 and finished 12th in the AL MVP voting.
