I'm excited about the Lee news. I watched him a lot in college with K state, and he can make plays all over the field. He's a tough run defender, but his pass coverage is his strong suit. He'll make the team for sure.

Taking a step back...making the team does seem likely. But unless Zimm totally feels the other two LB's can cover any deficiencies I have a hard time believing a 7th round small school guy who declared early is going to get the start out of the gate.

I don't think he will start, especially as a rookie. But, he or Exum could be in play in the big nickel package that Zim likes to run, and he should excel on special teams.

Maybe it was mirage but myself and others felt at least comfortable viewing Hill at LT, however small the sample size. Gotta at least be on par with what would be available on the scrap heap as 'insurance' to two newly signed guys. Not a lot of guys worth a spit looking for that kind of opportunity,

Hope we hear reports from camp that he's looking competent.

I would have been fine with Lee being selected in the fourth round. He was a steal where we got him. Nevertheless, they still aren't practicing with pads, and I'm thinking that Gedeon will be a more physical presence against the run, but I could be wrong. That third linebacker spot is something to watch.

i saw mocks where we chose lee a few rounds earlier and had forgotten about them until we selected him in the 7th - lee's listed at 229lbs...edmund robinson is naturally bigger and faster - and has been in zimmer's system for two years....

Small school? Kansas State is in the Big 12.

It seems that we have some depth at the wide receiver position.

This is the big news of the day for me:

Brothers is at walkthrough, watching. Good sign after what seemed to be a bad injury. (Krammer)

Eric Wilson seems to be opening eyes, especially with his special teams play.

http://www.startribune.com/linebacker-eric-wilson-eyes-opening-on-vikings-special-teams/436508143/

Here's his draft profile. He certainly has been under my radar.

Here's a quote from his draft profile:

However, don't sleep on his tackle production as a special teamer as that could be his meal-ticket to making a team.

Looks like-

Diggs skillset is sick. Stays healthy, and give our QB just a little time, Diggs could really breakout.

Cook- Sheesh, everyone who see's/ writes about this kid just raves about pretty much every aspect of his game. They can't all be wrong can they?

OLine sounds a little more sturdy. Elflein sounds like he should be taking over at center soon. Like the news on Isidora as well. Tackles still worry me.

Sounds like the offense had some success, but really how in the hell are you supposed to get any kind of real confidence going against this defense day in day out?

Funny we see the one highlight of Waynes getting beat by Diggs (Like Everyone Who's tried to cover him) and yet evidently as it turns out Waynes was the best DB on the field according to most evaluations. Trolls be damned...

Waynes will make the foolish disappear. He's going to be a great CB.

Talk to me with your expertise in December. Waynes will become the real deal.

Meanwhile you double down on your absurd misses. Should they be named?

"Should they be named"

That horrific list....

We aren't dealing with the Garden variety of absurdity here though...

By most accounts, it seems like the offense is getting the better of the defense in camp, though they've only practiced in pads once. I may be in the minority, but I don't really care about that.

We all know what this defense can do. I'd rather the offense get some confidence by beating this defense than have them go killer instinct and start bodying our own offensive guys.

YMMV.

It's low-contact practice.

Can't really draw a lot of conclusions from that.

I will say this, though: if the tackles are even mediocre, we're in good shape.

His route running and cutting ability has to be on par with the best in the league. He can literally, instantly, create yards of separation. Missing time is about the only thing that will keep him from shining in the league this year. He's literally almost indefensible he's so quick...and smart.

Sounds like to me the d-line is ahead of the o-line and the receivers are ahead of the secondary. In each case, the ones who have to react are behind the ones who are the aggressors. My guess is that things will even out a bit in the days ahead as they get more practice. Of course, it's a disadvantage for the secondary that the quarterback can't get hit. He's going to stand tall in the pocket without the nervous feet and you won't see him throwing the ball just to get rid of it.

"going to be" or "will become" is something you say when they are drafted. It's year three.
