Every frickin' year we have these funky starts with long layoffs between road games and end up with 4-5 games in hand until a killer March with barely a day off all month!

The Minnesota Wild don’t have a lot of players on the shelf, but they sure have a lot of money sidelined as they struggle early in 2017-18.

For one thing, even as his game starts to sag with age, it’s not the greatest sign when Zach Parise needs to insist that he’s not dealing with a back issue (via Dave Mizutani of the Pioneer Press). Whatever it might be, it’s not the greatest sign for the 33-year-old and the team that could use him, whether he’s declining or not.

Things aren’t looking good for Mikael Granlund at the moment, either, as head coach Bruce Boudreau ruled him out for at least the Wild’s next four games.

You knew that huge contract they gave Parise would come back to bite us sooner or later, but I was hoping it wouldn't be this soon. Only 2 games in to the season and already having a hard time getting 4 complete lines on the ice due to salary cap restraints.......great job Fletch!

I've said before that this is where I cut Fletch some slack. I read from Russo and the St. Paul beat writers back then that Fletch was not really gung ho on throwing all this money at 2 players like Parise and Suter. He saw the payroll hell that it would create and wanted to build with with the draft and use the cap space for quality depth. Leo was gung ho to make a splash with big free agent signings and ordered Fletch to make it so. Years later, what Fletch tried to tell him has come to pass. The Wild are solidly entrenched in that category of of being good enough to make the playoffs and not much else. They can't add because they are capped in and they never draft high enough to get an elite prospect.

Sweens pretty much nails it for me too.
I always ask for owners to spend more, I can't be hypocritical

That's a huge concern of mine. 2 and 7 are good, but Seabrook has fallen off the last couple of years. The other pairs are also ran's.

Wild on the first PP
Finally some good pressure
But the Hawks still have a REAL goalie, so no score yet

Saad is a good player. Not Hossa good, but he has that kind of potential. Stupid sweat allergy!
