Every June, I go on a 6 day flyfishing/ camping trip.
In 2018, we got a cabin at Wallowa Lake in Joseph, Or ( Google it) to watch the USMNT.

I may have jinxed us.

Unless he had a hand in appointing soccers version of Mikko as our captain, not his fault.

Could easily be a Minnesota team, this bunch, from what I've been reading and hearing.

Perfect comparison to the Wild the other night.

1. Apathetic "leaders"
2. No proven scorers on the big stage
3. Keeper who let in 2 of the softest goals you'll ever see

St Blues 2, United States of Minnesota National Soccer team 1

I saw that one long range arching goal and thought it was total Duby Du-oh! At least the US finally has someone with a chance to be star in Christian Pulisic.

Yup, 40 yards out and Howard missed it like he had concrete cleats on.

Pulisic is already a star. You can tell the way other teams play him. They try to get in his head but hacking the shit out of him every chance they can. He's in the perfect team in Germany too. Dortmund doesn't allow players to get too big in their own heads.

the challenge for him will be when some of the bigger boys start calling (Milan/Juve/PSG/Chelsea ect...).

Is the blonde dude on ESPN a legit soccer expert?
Because he's been RAILING the program
And begging for huge changes. Do you guys think he's right?
He went off this morning about Americas "reward the losers" mentality, which is prevalent in soccer according to him.
Says in every other country, you fail nice you get fired. You get cut. You get demoted.
Here, we give them the #1 pick the next year. It sounded legit to me.
We've all joked about getting ice cream and a medal in all sports ... Is soccer that cutthroat in the rest of the world?

I would guess it's him you are talking about. If so, yes. He's legit. Not much USMNT call ups but had a very nice MLS career.

This is probably what SMF is talking about

https://www.sbnation.com/soccer/2017/10/10/16457134/world-cup-2018-usa-vs-trinidad-and-tobago-taylor-twellman-rant-sportscenter

It's quite a rant.

Yeah, that's him and it's totally true. He can be an asshat, at times, but he's dead on with this situation.

Should World Cup talk go here or in the new World Soccer thread?

We had some new poster come in and create a thread to sell steel pipe last night. That was the only thread in the forum, so after I deleted it, I created new threads to replace the missing ones. Now the missing ones have reappeared.

Not a surprise but Russia thrashes the Saudi's. Big game tomorrow with Spain taking on Portugal. As far as advancing the loser, if there is one, isn't in trouble given the other 2 are Morocco and Iran. You always want to win the group though and that's a big pride game.

I’m sort of pissed that Russia got the World Cup and the Olympics.

Thanks Obama.

Stoopid liberals all pushed for it, so now when it finally happens, they whine. Typical.
