A lot of people seem willing to cast Barr off with a shrug. And a lot of those seem willing to embrace Richarson on potential.

I hope they re-sign Barr next so I don't have to hear it any more.

I really like both players.

I bought a Barr jersey/T last xmas so that probably will be the kiss of death.

Richardson isn't some unproven rookie AND he's about to join an elite defense. That being said it's not like I'm joining 'team richardson' over 'team Barr' or even acknowledging that there are said teams.

There's a video on this page where they talk about the Sheldon Richardson acquisition for the Vikings as being huge on the NFL Network. That's what I'm saying, too, that as big as it was, this is actually under the radar as a potential game changer for our defense. He's going to motivated and he is a great talent. He's going to help force more third and longs by stuffing the opponents running game and I can see opposing quarterbacks forcing the ball in on our secondary with more interceptions this year.

http://www.vikings.com/news/mailbag/article-1/Monday-Morning-Mailbag-Young-Players-Who-Could-Breakout-In-2018/43c11b97-9d48-474b-b8fe-ca06938cf114

edit: Maybe you notice I was trying to change the subject.

Sheldon is the reason I wouldn't be too quick to sign any more of our young defenders to an extension this offseason. I wouldn't be shocked if he has a season more worthy of it than Barr and/or Hunter.

I would still be willing to extend this off season. There is still a good chunk of cap room this year to front load a deal for one of these guys (I prefer Hunter). That leaves future cap room for when they sort out who they want to keep most after next year.

Although Richardson is a proven player on the field, I think he still needs to demonstrate he’s a fit here.

Otherwise they would have given him more than a one year contract.

As part of the Kluwe lawsuit the Vikings have to host a LGBTQ fundraiser.

Another part of the settlement requires that Pfierer “passionately embrace and kiss Kluwe on the lips”.

The Vikings didn't 'have to' host the fundraiser. It was agreed upon by both parties in a settlement that avoided a lawsuit.

They agreed to to avoid litigation.

So, they “have to”.

I agree with Bruce's sentiment that Richardson will likely draw a lot of attention freeing Barr and others to make big plays and build their stats.

I am guessing Barr will take advantage of that, and have a career year, which he will then be deemed too valuable for the Vikes to let go. I think they will then extend Barr and Hunter, letting Richardson go after this year.

I won't like that idea, it will be a big hole to fill, but it's likely they will have to let one of Diggs, Hunter, Barr and Richardson go.

But then again, with Kendricks and Waynes now extended, maybe they will front load a little bit and extend Diggs and Hunter, and then realizing how close they are this year (should they just lose the NFC Championship or Super Bowl), they find a way to extend Richardson and Barr, and are in the go for it, knock down the SB door in 2019 ???

I'm surprised the Vikings released Dylan Bradley to sign Mr. Parry. I thought that he was showing some promise.

Checking his draft profile, I can see why. He's simply not big enough.

Early projection of 53 man roster.

Just to throw more dirt on this writer;

Similarly, I think Special Teams coach Mike Priefer wanted an upgrade on the long-snapper position. Dooley is bigger, younger, cheaper.

They cut Dooley on Tuesday.

I’m making it my personal quest to roast this bum every chance I get.

We are halfway through May and already 2 of his final roster predictions are wrong.

Did Waynes get an extension? I know they picked up his option, but didn't know about an extension. I've actually lost this site a couple of times in the past few days, not sure what that was all about, but i chalk it up to living in China, they have control of the net and mess around with it a lot!

69!

While some may interpret my last post as being all over the map because my previous post was saying that it's probably Richardson that isn't re-signed, it's more that I am working on being less conservative and more optimistic about the Vikings.

There were some that were telling me there was little chance we would sign Richardson after signing Cousins, because Richardson would cost so much, ridiculing me for wanting an all Madden team, I ended up being right that he fills a void, and that the Vikes were interested in him. It is up to him to prove that he was worth signing.

If he has an awesome year, the Vikes will likely see his value and extend him.

We'll see. This is the year to be "all in". I don't think the team can afford all of it's stars next year, but we'll see.

I wouldn’t put it past Richardson.

Comes off the ball as fast as any interior D-lineman in the NFL.

I’m sure they’re hoping Jaleel Johnson turns it on.
