Davante Downs per this Spielman interview at the 3 minute mark "our doctors feel he will hopefully be ready by training camp." Slightly odd wording, but seems to be more indicative that he will be ready by training camp then not.

Cool. Not much to see and talk about, but always good to see purple helmets in action.

It looks like there are some practice squad players joining with them. I see Cayleb Jones (fresh with the news that he will be suspended for PED's) and Horace Richardson, I believe, are two of the players.

Why is this a thing for you?

Ian it is a thing because there are a lot of assumptions he won't be ready to play this year and others that he will get a late to very late start. I'm very intrigued by him as he was before his injury probably the second leading candidate for PAC 12 DPOY without the tweener questions that Hercules has. As far as I can tell there has been no indicators that would lead to the conclusion that he won't play this year. So I'm sharing what information I can find. He had a torn ACL in October. My research on NFL players recovering from that is sometimes conflicting opinions but 6 months on the early side and 10 months on the late side is the most common range. I assure you that if any information comes in indicating he won't be ready I will try to be the first to report it. Fun fact regarding the injury and recovery. Quickest ever ACL recovery was Jerry Rice back in action 3.5 months later.

I'd love to see Hughes sign so we can be completely done with signing draft picks. We had 7 out of 8 before anyone else.

Sounds like WR Badet was the fastest guy on the field by far according to PA/Leber/Wobby. Apparently Hughes couldn't keep up with him and it sounds like it will be interesting to see if Cooley will keep his spot. 4.27 40 yard dash. Returned kicks too.

Also RB Mike Boone and TE Conklin looked really good also.

You can't coach speed. Very few humans can run a 4.27.

I haven't watched film on Badet yet so I guess I need to. Most of what I have read so far is he has speed, but not much else.

I’d be interested to see how accurate the reports were that he struggled at the Senior Bowl. If his only issue is girth, as Bercich contends, then he should have been fine there?

I don't know about the Senior Bowl, but it seems that he did ok in his matchup vs Chubb and I forget the other high profile pass rusher in the above video.

When I look at O'Neil, it looks like to me he's got the frame and the size. I'll take the word of the experts that he needs to develop his strength, but he looks the part. I also like what I hear coming out of his mouth. I have no doubts that he will make the effort to be great. If he doesn't get to that level, it won't be for the effort.

If you liked that, then you'll appreciate his analysis of the free agents, too.

The scout tape for O’Niell vs NC State is on YouTube.

Bercich cherry picked his best plays. Several times, including the opening play of the game Chubb throttled O’Niell.

That said, he never lost confidence and battled the whole game.

That last 'right' should have been a 'write'.

Injuries will be a concern for Downs, I have feeling he will be great on special teams right away.

Every year, I pick a guy who I want to make the team from the piles of ufa's we pick up. This year, my pick is Hercules! He has speed, guts, and the ability to shake stuff up on the field.

He might always be a tweener, but at a minimum he will be a STs beast
