Last night showed a perfect example of who Jeff Teague is.
He's not a bad player, but he's not a PG. He's a small SG.
I think part of the reason he pounds the ball so much and is so indecisive about scoring is because he’s trying to play the point and it doesn’t come naturally to him. He’s thinking about what to do instead of just doing it.
He doesn’t see mismatches, he’s a horribly inaccurate passer.
But he’s a very solid 3pt shooter and an incredibly underrated driver, but he doesn’t do nearly enough of either. The guy can get to the rim against almost anyone – but he’s so hesitant to do it.
He really should be an instant-offense 6th man off the bench. Bring him into the game and tell him to always be in attack mode. Shoot if you’re open, drive every chance you get. I really think he’d thrive in that role. Basically the JJ Barea role in Dallas.
He was really good scoring last night, and 27/4 is a terrific game for him, but it illustrates the difference between him and a guy like Rubio. Ricky may have had 14/12 for us last night, but there is no way KAT would've had less than 20 points.
Classic yin/yang of Teague. Last night he had an amazing slam. Stopped for a moment to flex afterwards. Just enough to let his man get a couple steps lead down court and he got a layup on the other end.
