Heard new Twin Jonathan Schoop acted as a double agent in landing Cruz, selling Cruz on the Twins while selling the Twins on Cruz.

best of luck in the job search Murf. Hopefully you find something good.

Ditto

Kerry, how was the trip to Germany? How have your treatments been going?

We didn't go Germany. When I saw the ALS doctor at Duke my lung capacity was down significantly. He strongly suggested we not go to Germany. I am also not talking the Radicava any longer. The Duke doctor thought they were a waste of money because the study done in Japan where patients found relief was with a select group of patients whose lung capacity was still high.

How cool would it be if the Twins signed all-time Target Field HR leader Jose Bautista? I'd love that.

It would be cool if he was still good. He isn't.

Oh no! Aaron Slegers DFAd to make room for Cruz. I'm sure that will trigger a flurry of waiver claims.

He had decent numbers with the Angels the last couple years. But he's old and he was also very lucky last season, with a 4.40 FIP.

And he gave up 9 HRs as a reliever in 66IP

He'll fit right in!

But, more importantly, he has 4.5 years of major league service. The Twins can sign him to a 1 year deal and retain his rights after the season. He also has the factor of declining velo last year. Lost something like 1.5 miles off his fastball. So yeah, on many levels, he is right up our alley.

So if I read this correctly not a good signing despite good K/9 and ERA and decent walk numbers.

It's worth taking a flier on him if it's not much money.

I'd offer him 2.75 and remind him that we're redesigning the #34 gate area.

I'd quit offering contracts to guys in their mid 30"s with declining velocity and offer more serious coin to a legitimate flame thrower.

Let's be clear. The guy would have signed somewhere. and he probably would have gotten pretty close to that amount. Let's not act like there is only one team that would pay a journeyman reliever that. It's the current economics of the game.

Let's also be clear. Through last year, he has in no way sucked. His numbers did trend down last year even though they were still solid. His fastball velocity dropped by almost 2 full mph last year, down to 92. He is currently 33 years old. This has the look of another Addison Reed signing. We get him just in time for him to lose his stuff and get the shit knocked out of him on a regular basis.

They have some extensions that they need to consider. Mostly Berrios.

Same thing was said about Kintzler after we picked him up after closing for the Brewers.....I like that he has closer experience, especially for the Angels. Hell I look at Cody Allen for the Indians and he may have been the least arm for Cleveland. I like that he has 3 pitches as they can use him as a closer or setup guy.

Kintzler was 30 when we got him and he was signed to a minor league deal. He wasn't expected to fill a significant role at the time. Last year at 33 years old, Kintzler declined to a 4.60 ERA. These are pitchers who are at an age where a lot of guys careers fall off a cliff.

Biggest thing though is Kintzler is more of a sinker, pitch to contact guy. Parker has 3 pitches....70k in 60 innings. Fastball, Splitter, and Curveball....

I read something that said he has one of the most devastating splitters in baseball. But his fastball just gets hammered. So the trick will be for the Twins staff to find a way for him to use the splitter more and the fastball less.

I just did my relocation for 2019. Stayed in the same section, but moved 3 rows closer and stayed on the aisle. No price increase. Yes!
