Could get lucky and beat Sesttle at home with the crowd noise making the defense strong, but I see the Vikes as not having much of a chance right now with Wilson playing well.

But you never know.

DiFillipo seems to be referenced often as a head coach candidate. I’m guessing someone hires him next year, which I am happy about. He has not been a good OC. That said, Spielman needs to make fixing the online his first, second and third priorities so as not to hamstring a new OC with the garbage we’ve had to watch this year.

Should the Vikes ever risk it again paying top dollar for a QB, I want it to be a QB that has won a SB.

What is Kirk's record again against teams with winning records as a Viking?

Try this stat on for size...

though stats dont matter...

Kirk Cousins record vs teams with winning record
During his time with the Washington Redskins, Cousins' starting record against winning teams is 4-19 (based on their opponents' final record). Cousins has cleaned up against losing teams (19-9-1) and has fared OK against .500 clubs (3-2), resulting in an overall record of 26-30-1 in the regular season.

I'm a Cousins' backer but the throw to Treadwell was inexcusable.

Also, Elflein needs to figure things out. Getting thrown back into your QB every passing play is not good.

Drew Brees, Russell Wilson or Big Ben might have been ok, but none of them were really available last offseason.

Great point about Treadwell and that throw. I was seriously miffed by that one!

When our D went down a couple starters it was like hot knife meet butter... head coach material or whatever is that really all we get from the fabulous D minded Zimm?

We were thoroughly out coached in ALL PHASES today

Brees was a pipe dream but some say he was available to an offer he couldnt say NO to... If in fact we were felt to be that close, I would have prefered we threw a absolutely insane number at Brees than the deal we did with Kirk, but hindsight...

was never going to happen and so we need to get so much more out of Kirk now! whats left to do that?

Coaching change?

Next year is make or break for RS. He needs to put together an excellent offensive line and find an innovative OC in the Matt Nagy mold. If our offensive doesn’t change drastically next year, and the Vikes once again become an elite team, I think RS and Zimmer will be gone.

I’m not as down on Flip as some. I really think he’s just totally incompatible with Zim. They both see the game so differently.

Same boat. The combination of Zim and the oline, Nagy/McVay/Shanahan wouldn't be doing much better.

I still think he can improve in scheme/play call.

Yep and Yep.

With this O-line and Zimmer as HC; as much as my Purple Shades would like to screen those two deficiencies out, we are not winning a SuperBowl this year, imo.

(Priefer isn't helping either, as someone mentiioned, send him to the challenge/clock management booth)

I was kind of hoping Baltimore would go in the tank and Harbaugh would get canned.

Still hoping for a resurgence this year. Beating Seattle could get us going. Seattle playing great ball right now. Plus at Seattle at night.

McCarthy was lifted by a Hall of Fame QB.

If someone thinks he can do more with less, that person doesn't know football very well.

I would like to see a pure offensive coach have a shot with Cousins.
Look at the Rams, Fisher had us believing Goff was a bust. New coach and all of a sudden they are elite.

Elf hasn't been what I hoped for. Liked drafting the tough wrestler, but not the football player at all I imagined. How many more years until we get this OL figured out?

Then-Vikings coach Jerry Burns said Walker didn’t fit into his offense well and he couldn’t change it for one player. Walker, who averaged 12.8 carries in 43 games with the Vikings, disputes that, saying he could have been effective in any offense if given more chances.

The bottom line, though, is the Vikings mortgaged their future for a player they thought could be the final piece to a championship. The deal was put together by then-general manager Mike Lynn, who died in 2012.

Herschel still owns a house in Edina BTW

Cousins played poorly today but we didn’t mortgage our future for him

You dont have to convince me that Zimmer is holding us back. Heck Childress actually competed in his NFC championship game appearance with far less talent than we have now! No I'm not championing Childress. I couldn't stand him. But Zimmer hasnt done anything differently than Chili this far with the exception of getting smoked in the title game.

Cousins was a big risk, I didn't like the guaranteed money.

Franchise QBs are very hard to find. Kirk appears to be an almost franchise QB, maybe can get to the next level with an aggressive OC, and better OL.

I would be tempted to start Sloter next week, see what he can do with all the talent.

I don't usually make statements like this on here, but... Sloter next week is retarded, c'mon. Kirk needs a cleaner pocket and our O-line was dominated. I'd like to see some designed rollouts when they are overloading the middle as much as they were. The fault is on the GM bringing in a QB who is predominantly a pocket passer and not giving him an OL good enough to provide the pocket. A good off-season next year will make a big difference. As long as we don't spend all our draft capital on CB's and K's.
