Pretty sure the Packers will sign Lang or Sitton to help pass protect for Rodgers, either one would be a good pick up for the Vikes.

I would be quite happy with even a THIRD rounder for Waynes.

Some Vikings players poorer numbers, were a result of so many slow starts for Kirk.

A faster start for the offense, helps the defense get more stops and turnovers, makes their job easier when you can make the opposing team one dimensional.

Hes Back....

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Griffen, whose $10.9 million salary was set to be guaranteed this afternoon, has revised his deal in order to remain in Minnesota. Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports he will make around $8 million.

Pretty much have to trade Waynes at this point and probably restructure Rudolph. Vikings literally have no cap space and 1 Guard on the roster....

One starting guard, right? I mean, aren't there some "prospects" with the team from last year?

8 Million before draft picks isn't any cap space? There are other ways to create room too. Lots of guys making lots of money. Could take care of Thielen and make it all signing bonus....they will make some more room. Waynes and Rudolph are the first candidates. I remember signing 5 guys with 18-20 million in cap space.

Before Griff's restructure, per Sportrac:

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/

Top 51 cap space - $3,035,611
Top 51 cap space w/all - $560,611

Heck, we don't even have a kicker on the roster right now.

Yeah, Waynes is gone.

Happy keep Sack Daddy day !

Trade Waynes, and this is becoming a great off season.

I didn't like losing Murray nor Richardson, but I couldn't get Murray's name right half the time, and Richardson was good, but not as awesone as I had hoped.

I also wonder if there was something about Richardson that led to Griffen going over the edge, like taking attention away, or maybe it was missing Robison???? Not sure, just speculation.

Hopefully Griff returns to form. Kinda stymies Weatherly a bit but ofcourse prefer Griff when on his game. Since we dont have a true interior pass rusher - I wonder if they’ll give Griffin some looks inside just to change things up. Like the old days.

I can’t imagine going after a FA and spending more on defense.

The #Vikings are in contact with Nick Easton’s agent regarding a re-signing, according to GM Rick Spielman. Says he still fits the athletic build they’re looking for.

wont take us long to burn through our freed up cash.

I wouldn't even joke. Remember Spielman made a substantial offer to him before he signed with Carolina...

Wait! Reiff is moving to G. OK, guess Easton will play tackle. Easier on the surgically repaired neck.

Zero starters, one overall (Isadora, who couldn't sniff a minute with Remmers and Compton in place last year). Zero prospects outside of Isadora.

Filling in the pieces AND positions:

LT - Reiff
LG - Easton/2nd OL pick winner
C - Elf
RG - Ford
RT - O'Neill

Hill
Easton/2nd OL pick loser
Isadora
Late rounder/FA scrap heap winner (both stay if we keep 10)

Maybe Collins joins the mix

The longer the defense is on the field, the more tackles they rack up.

Spielman made defense the priority in FA (what a surprise) so he better make offense the priority in the draft. I don’t want to see a defensive player until after the 4th round and I don’t care if we pick a lower “ranked” player on offense over a higher ranked defensive player as long as the players we pick can legitimately help our offense. Personally, I’d draft the following:

1. TE - TJ Hockenson or G/T Cody Ford
2. G - Kris Lindstrom or TE Irv Smith Jr.
3. C - Erik McCoy
4. OT - Dennis Daley

We need to follow the Colts lead and devote our draft resources to protecting the QB.

I agree with Hockenson, even knowing how much we need interior line upgrades. Daniel Jeremiah makes him sound like a reincarnation of Jim Kleinsasser:

"Hockenson is at his best in the run game. He rag-dolls defensive ends and linebackers. He had multiple pancake blocks in every game I studied. Overall, Hockenson is one of the best blocking tight ends I've ever evaluated, and he is dependable in the passing game. He's a Day 1 impact player at the next level."
