Garrard would seem like a no-brainer for the Rayduhs!

The Raiders give up next years  round 1 and possibly another round 1 for Palmer?  Crazy

Good move by Da Raidahs. They get to plug him in right away vs a struggling KC team where they can just use a heavy dose of McFadden. Then they have the bye week so Palmer gets more time to get used to the system.

I agree that it is crazy. In one sense it must be nice to see your org pull all the stops to get that QB. #1 pick (Russel), trade for Campbell, trade for Palmer...but at some point you'd hope they'd get good at it.

Palmer a couple of years ago for (potentially) 2 #1's...ok, now - huge risk.

Campbell was doing a decent job but he is out for 2 months.  They sense the AFC West is not that strong this year so they can't be without a QB for 2 months.

Garrard needs back surgery so he is out.

They considered Vince Young but at this point they need someone ready to step in

Carson goes back to Cali

Not THAT big of a risk. If it turns into 2 #1s, that means he played really well, so the risk paid off.

A single first rounder would have been a steal for the Bungles. Did the Raiders do this to honor the memory of Al Davis? His spirit definitely lives on.

Palmer hasn't been worth a 1st round pick for about 5 years. He's pushing 32 years old and he's a pretty rickety 32, he probably won't even get familiar with the Raiders system/personnel before the end of this season, no off season/TC.

Factoid of the Week That May Interest Only Me In the first seven games of his career, in 1998, Peyton Manning threw for 1,595 yards. In the first seven games of his career, this year, Cam Newton has thrown for 2,103 yards.
Newton is throwing for 73 more yards per game than Manning did in his rookie year.
One more Newtonism: He has seven rushing touchdowns, which is two more than Chris Johnson, Maurice Jones-Drew, LaDainian Tomlinson and DeAngelo Williams combined.

No way!

If you could combine Peterson's running ability with Marshall Faulk's receiving skills he would be

Can anyone find the stats on which NFL season had the highest number of teams with 4 wins or less?  Or the highest number of teams with 3 wins or less?  Based on the number of no win/low win teams, it seems like this year could break the record for the number of low-win teams.  There could even be 3 win-less teams since they don't face one another.

Looking ahead, IF (and that's a HUGE IF) these teams with losing records lose their remaining games to teams with .500 or better records, these are the most likely candidates for dismal seasons with 4 wins or less:

Colts - Currently 0 wins.  Upcoming schedule has them facing only 1 team (twice) with a losing record (Jaguars home/away).  Strong chance they could go 0-16.

Dolphins - Currently 0 wins.  Upcoming schedule has them facing only 1 team with a losing record (Eagles).  Strong chance they could go 0-16.

Rams - Currently 0 wins.  Could also go 0-16, but they do face the Cardinals and Seahawks twice each.  Guessing they may split those and end up 2-14.

Vikings - Currently 1 win.  Only games against opponents with losing records are at Carolina, and home against Denver.  Getting more than 3 wins looks difficult.

Cardinals - Currently only 1 win, but they have 4 games against teams with losing records (Rams home/away, at Eagles, Seahawks).  4-12 or worse seems plausible.

Broncos - Currently 2 wins, but upcoming schedule has them facing only 1 team with a losing record (at Minnesota).  4-12 or worse seems plausible.

Panthers - Currently 2 wins, but upcoming schedule has them facing only 2 teams with losing records (Minnesota, at Colts).  4-12 is possible.

Jaguars - Currently 2 wins, but upcoming schedule has them facing only 1 team (twice) with a losing record (Colts home/away).  4-12 is possible.

Seahawks - Currently 2 wins, but upcoming schedule has them facing 4 games against teams with losing records (Rams home/away, Eagles, at Arizona).  If they split those and lose all the rest, 4-12 is a possibility.

Eagles - Currently 2 wins, but upcoming schedule has them facing 3 teams with losing records (Cardinals, at Seahawks, at Dophins).  Could wind up 4-12 if they really choked.  However, I suspect the Eagles will likely wind up with a much better record than that.

I doubt all 10 of those teams will flounder that badly, and the fact many play each other will inevitably lead to some wins for a few of them.  Still, it seems like this season could shape up to be one where there are a high number of teams with horrible records.  I can't recall a season quite like this in terms of this many bad records this far into a season.

BTW, if two or teams end up with 0-16 records, what's the tie-breaker for the #1 draft pick in the next year's draft?  Do they just flip a coin?

Considering that 0-16 has happened only once in NFL history, and it took a really shitty PI call in one game for that to happen...I seriously doubt TWO will happen in one season.

Never was.  he's a speed back that relies on cutting and running like hell.  Eventually, the speed starts to slow and the cuts aren't as crisp.  The next time he breaks a tackle will be the first this season.

If the Colts play any more games like last week they should lose their 1st round pick

NBA style lottery is starting to look better!

**** that.

The NBA lottery is, was and always shall be a scam.

it was created so the Knicks could get Patrick Ewing.

It's manipulated every ****ing year.

This year the Timberwolves got jobbed so Cleveland could get a feel good replacement for LeBron James.

The NFL Draft is fine the way it is.

The Colts need to be told to try or they will lose it.

Never ever suggest a draft lottery again.  It is the worst possible idea.

I agree that the lottery is a terrible idea.  Just ask the TWolves about lottery picks.

One tie-breaker I would like to see is something based on the longest drought in years without a Championship.  For teams that have never won one, they would use the date of the team's inception.  This could be the first tie-breaker used after season record, and this would apply to all things where tie-breakers factor in, including draft picks as well as playoff seeding.

Looks like Eli's got his work cut out for him.
Tom Coughlin might just explode as the losing continues.

Comment From Cliff

I think Jon Gruden should be required to ref a game and then be judged on his decisions. He roasted the refs all game long. He basically didn't want any calls at all. But of course, that can't be the standard. What do you think the next ref calls in sick, Jon should be a standin ref.

Mike Pereira

He wouldn't last a quarter and besides that, it would be a one man crew. No self-respecting official would ever step on the field with him on their crew.

Gruden was right on a lot of his comments but his over the top style is annoying

The refs ARE worse than ever

But the Chargers lost the game because of Rivers

According to Gruden, every player is "outstanding."
