Why would a team with no salary cap not go out and pay someone to play?

Escobar pretty much set at 3rd rest/season in Arizona

Diamondbacks third baseman Jake Lamb will undergo season-ending surgery on his left shoulder, manager Torey Lovullo announced to reporters on Thursday (Twitter link via Zach Buchanan of The Athletic). Lamb was previously said to be weighing surgery to repair a frayed left rotator cuff.

Orioles loss was so bad at TX

Buck had to use Val to get the last out in the 8th inning.

So Brian Dozier is absolutely stroking the ball for the Dodgers. Since he was with the "home" team here for a long while, can you guys tell me more about him? I don't know much.

Has a pile of HRs in the last 2 months of the season over the last couple of years.

Average overall will suffer, and will strike out a lot. This year has not been very good overall.
gold glove defense, also has not been as good this year.

Also a great Fastball hitter...going to hit a ton for LA these last 2 months hitting between Bellinger and Puig.

He is also the king of the solo home run. He'll hit a butt load of them. He is also a real leader and a great guy in the club house. You guys got him at the right time of the year and Dodger fans are going to love him.

Rugged game for MIL. Dodgers hit seven dingers, scored 21 in the finale.

And despite all of that, they're still just a game up on the Pesky Diamondbacks, and MIL is only a game back of the Chubbies.

Great guy, very solid player in all facets.
Underappreciated here, by most everyone.
A few of us diehards stayed with him, the rest jumped ship.
Here's hoping he gets a ring and a nice big fat contract somewhere.
He toiled here in anonymity and took unnecessary crap.
You got a helluva player, for almost nuttin.
Probably in the top-3 most-underpaid players of his generation.
Played well when we sucked, played well when we got better, played well when we sucked again.
Bad numbers were a product of batting out of place in the order most nights.
Cheap owners here tried to make something out of him that he is not. And instead of rebelling, he took it as a challenge and changed his body and his swing, and it paid off.
Has had a rough year to date like his entire team has. And took the blame like the man he is.
Congrats. And enjoy.

Greinke with another pitcher of the month honor
A guy that could have been racking up numbers here, but he was too expensive.
Wait.
That never stops us.
Damn its hard to remember just how f-ing free spending we are. I keep forgetting all the time.

Actually, I think Robbie Grossman is talked up more than any player ever has.

No top FA EVER wants to come to MN. That is why Failvine's model is flawed. They won't add anyone other than 2nd tier FA who are purely looking for bigger money than other teams would be willing to pay them.

The Yankees better stop pitching to Pearce. That's 4 HR's in less than 24 hours.

Porcello was nasty.

Yankees struggling. I think that staff over achieved first half of the season. And now, Severino is really struggling. He's been real bad over his last 5 starts. Failed to pitch 6 innings in the last 5 starts.

Last 5 starts for Severino: 25 IP, 23 Earned Runs, 8 HR's.
