Beavers get a 3-0 victory over NMU to get into a tie for fourth in the WCHA. We have the best two teams in the conference in our last two series, so it'll be tough to hang on and get home ice.

Gophers get a road sweep at #2 OSU both Games 4-3. Move up to 21 In the Pairwise.
Duluth loses to Denver 0-1.

Regular season #1 is pretty much Down to just St. Cloud and U Mass now after OSU getting swept.

New Polls are out. Very impressive showing for the state of Minnesota.
SCSU #1
UMD #3
Mankato #4

After good weekends Minnesota and BSU moved up to a tie for 24th.
I expected Minnesota to do better than that after sweeping then #2 ranked Ohio State at Ohio State.

SCSU keeps winning with a 4-1 5-0 weekend road sweep over Omaha. Tonight's win was almost fluky, but we outshot them by 1. With the win Huskies win the NCHC Penrose Cup as regular season champs with two weeks remaining. Unprecedented.
Minnesota loses 3-2 then wins 2-1 over Notre Dame
UMD splits with UND
Beavers with a loss 1-3 against #15 Bowling Green on Friday. Tonight in 3 on 3 hockey 2-2 as I type this.
Mankato Crushes Alaska 6-1 Friday. No score reported yet tonight.

Massachusetts lost so Huskies getting a firmer grasp on #1 for the Pairwise and thus Tournament seeding.

I can't figure out why Henry Johnson has been benched the entire 2nd half of the season. Driscoll has been mediocre at best in net, but he's playing every single game.

Biggest WCHA upset of the year -

Alaska knocked off Minnesota State 1-0.

I want BSU to face Lake Superior State in the 1st round. That's how it's set up now with LSSU in 4th and BSU in 5th. Preferably we pass them and take 4th so they have to come to Bemidji for the series. But either way is fine. I just don't want to drop to 6th and have to face one of the Top 3 teams in the first round.

That one blew my mind. #48 Alaska shuts out Mankato. Possibly the biggest upset of any kind this year.

Look at this prediction from the lead writer for USCHO.

Bemidji State at Minnesota State
There’s nothing left for Minnesota State to do. The Mavs have already won the MacNaughton Cup and secured both the No. 1 seed and home ice in the WCHA playoffs. So I like them to take the old Indianapolis Colts route during this final weekend of the regular season. They’ll take it easy, limit the minutes of their key players and escape the series without any injuries. That approach is what always worked for Peyton Manning. Give me the Beavers to get the sweep on the road.

I disagree that Mankato has nothing to play for getting swept by Bemidji could easily cost Mankato a #1 seed in the NCAA tourney.

Minnesota hockey results for Friday Night.

Minnesota CRUSHES ASU 5-1
SCSU squeaks by with a 5-4 win at Western Michigan. Down 4-2 and get the last three goals of the game. Outshot 40-26 so it was fluky.
UMD wins 4-2 over Miami
Mankato takes down the Beavers 4-1.

Minnesota 5-2 over ASU big sweep over a highly ranked opponent.

St. Cloud beats UMD with an OT power play goal 4-3. Win tomorrow and they will set the record for most dominant NCHC season ever.
Minnesota over Michigan 3-2 in OT. Came back from down 0-2
Mankato beats Bama Huntsville 3-1
Bemidji season almost over losing 2-4 at Lake Superior State.

What's frustrating about the Bemidji State loss is that we dominated play over the Lakers. We outshot them 31-21 on their ice. Very disappointed in our goaltending. IMO Driscoll has done nothing to earn full-time status. How do you allow 4 goals on and make only 17 saves in a playoff game? That's ridiculous. I HATE fluky losses. Hate 'em. Gotta win tonight.

Playoff results tonight. Three Minnesota teams that don't need to win at all for NCAA's but they won anyway.
UMD 2-1 in OT over Omaha
Mankato 2-1 over Lake Superior
St. Cloud 5-2 over Miami.
Minnesota I'm guessing plays tomorrow.

Pretty neat story. I was flipping around after the Gophers hockey loss. Stumbled across the Minnesota State game vs Lake Superior State. Not a very well produced broadcast out of Mankato. Dare I say the old Bemidji State broadcasts put it to shame. Those have been taken away from me (thanks BSU - did your gate increase????). Anyway, MSU had a fluky win, outshot 31-30, but scored 2 vs 0. MSU hosts Northern Michigan in a 1-game championship matchup next Saturday. Not much on the line for MSU in the grand scheme....already locked into the tourney. Not sure about Northern Michigan...will check the Pairwise now.

Yep Mankato and SCSU keep getting those Fluky wins.

Actually not fluky for the Huskies last night outshooting Miami OH 45-21 in a 6-3 victory. Concerning to me that they gave up 3 goals on only 21 shots. Not sure who we play next. Denver the 4 seed beat the 5 seed UND. Colorado College going to a third game with Western Michigan. If WM wins we play Denver. If CC wins maybe they reseed and we get them.
