The Bears were the worst 5-1 team in the history of sports.

Yeah, No the Bears are who we thought they were.
They’re who we thought they were.
.We played them in preseason. Who the hell takes the third game in the preseason like it’s Bullshit,
Bullshit.
We played them the third game, everybody played three quarters. The Bears are who we thought they were. That’s why we took the damn field.

Now, If you want to crown them, then crown their asses But they are who we thought they were.
And we let them off the hook.

I apologize for all the ranting last night, but that was a frustrating one.
We should pound teams like that.
The Bears had life after an interception, a terrible kickoff, and 2 returns of our terrible punts. Other than that, zippo. nada.
Gotta win a game like that going away, if you're any good.
But then again, we're known for losing those types.
So, yay!
On to the Cowboys.

Cook was a warrior
Our D was solid everywhere
Jefferson is damn fun and a playmaker
Our O line is somehow, someway, getting better.
At least we got that silly "#1 pick" thing out of our heads.

I really got concerned once he was standing on the sidelines
I was pretty sure we'd start running our offense towards wherever he was standing
That appeared to be the game plan
That woulda been a mess

Removing one guy who whiffed on nearly every play, causing the rest to have to make up for it, and replacing him with a rook who is getting better.

HUGE difference, eh?

If they're not going to be in the top 5 for a draft pick, then win these games vs similar teams.
Not saying they're better. No way.

Improving? Hard to believe, but yes. Having to force feed some younger guys is working. Patterson is a pretty darn good d-line coach IMO

Was it ugly? sure. But it's a win and I'll take it.

It was good for our suddenly very inexperienced D line to get a game against a weak O line. Hercules was all over the place. I hope this is a sign of things to come.

The offense played a solid game against a good defense. The Bears were determined to take Cook away and the Vikings adapted. Could have been more points on the board with out the turn overs. Not sure what was going on with Thielen, but after that first TD, he couldn't seem to catch anything clean. The Mack interception was all on AT. I have to tip my hat to Cousins for throwing his body into Mack to get him out of bounds.

As SMF said, the O line is improving against all odds. That was a damn good defense they were battling in the trenches. Gladney keeps improving and Kendricks continues to be one the 5 best defensive players on the planet.

Special teams? Good God can we bring Priefer back? In the last 2 weeks we have had 2 punts blocked an extra point missed, a kickoff return for a TD against, resulting in series of pooch kicks that always gave the Bears good field position.

Well, never a fan of Priefer, admittedly, he was terrible with player development and coaching, especially Kickers.
Minnesota is ranked just ahead of Cleveland, which is not saying much.

Hell no to Priefer.

I agree Dan. I was just engaging in a little reductio ad absurdum again.

But, there is no denying that our ST play has been downright putrid lately.

Well, Cordarrelle Patterson, always has been a threat to house a return..but it was also very obvious, last night that his hands are suspect at best..

Not a smooth hand guy, at all.

He dribbled the football like an NBA player a few times last night, but got the lucky bounces.

Its always so crazy, when we get one thing almost straightened out, then another, like the ST, falls into a million pieces.
Just a hot mess again.
The missed extra point is the type of thing that usually dooms us.
Just can't stay consistent in all phases. if we ever did ........

Just look at the last punt. From the Vikings position on the field, it should have been easy for an NFL punter to angle kick it out around the 10 or kick it up high and short for the coverage team to stop it before the end zone. When just getting the punt off is an iffy proposition, you wind up with what happened. Right down the middle and into the end zone for a touch back.

Exactly what put me over the edge on the ST
We assume we are like other teams, we are not
They CAN rely on their punter to pin the other team, we can't
But we just keep playing offense like our ST will seal the deal. They can't and don't.

Our net gain on that change of possession was barely worth it.
Think about that when you plan that last series of plays.
You HAVE to pin them with your offense, not your punter.

Any other offense in the NFL would have made us pay enough for those inadequacies, and would have beat us.

One thing I did appreciate last night, we do have some guys who seem to really give a crap
Thats big, and not always a given
You could sense that there were some guys damn mad at Patterson after the return. Every time they had a chance to hit him, they punished him.
I like that. Speaks to something being built amongst the young core that is being thrown into the mix too early, on D.
They take yardage against and slights, personally. Once again, baby steps, but I like that.
Keep Kendricks and Harry for their ability and their leadership, keep coaching up young guys with some sandpaper.
I hate Zimmers approach as a HC, but the guy does know how to coach a defense.

Somehow his added mass appears to have made him faster. He looked like he was shot out of a cannon at times last night.

Loved the speed with which we attacked defensively
Timed our blitzes well
yep, Hercules was a fun watch. he and Wilson give me some hope

Justin Jefferson's grade through 10 weeks: 90.2
1st among rookies
2nd among all NFL WRs

Too bad it took a couple weeks of Bisi Johnson to play Jefferson.

You'd swear it was the Twins slow-playing that one
There's no way any football guy with common sense looks at those two and goes ... Let's play Bisi until this other kid gets it

In one of the biggest plays of the game,
Caught the ball,
turned,
looked upfield,
took a glancing hit,
squared his hips,
Ran over a smaller DB,
kept his feet,
and picked up damn-near 20 yards for a huge first down.

I like Rudy
I always defend him
But damn, that was a play we been waiting for, for awhile now

Glad Mata, Harry, and Wilson show up there, because they seemed awesome last night
Anyone else's heart shut down when Kendricks laid out there awhile? yeah, me neither

It amazes me that for all his physical gifts, Patterson has never been able to develop as a WR at all.

World class KR, fun gadget guy, but he should've been so much more.
