The only benefit to shorter races is the cost savings and environmental protection. Something just doesn't sound right if the first race of the season is now the Daytona 400. That's supposed to be the crappy mid-season race. Now the crappy mid-season race will only be 300 miles, I guess.

I hadn't heard that one. I did see where they are going with Ethanol next year

Status: offline 		Fun race today. Very impressed with Robby's run. He managed to stay on the lead lap almost all day. He held on just long enough to see cautions at the right time several times. Always fun to watch a guy battle like that. Also kudos to Ken Schrader who did the same.

I really wish NASCAR would just go to all short tracks and road courses. That's where you see who the good drivers really are. Love him or hate him, Robby is probably the best driver in NASCAR.

Funny how Mark Martin's car got really fast by removing the rear bumper. There's a nice strategy for someone to try next year at Martinsville.....have a teammate rear-end you mid-race, damaging the bumper enough for it to either fall off or "require" the pit crew to remove the bumper as a car repair.

Hate the way so-called stock cars look now. They look like modifieds, not the classic stock cars Earnhardt and Petty ran.

Smoke is also good on the road courses so that isn't it. I really hate them more in the IRL. Almost impossible to pass

Status: offline 		I agree that road courses don't make for the best TV. Plus, most of the drivers are clueless on them, so it's impossible to go more than 4 laps without a caution.

The short tracks are the best. Lots of passing, lots of bumping, lots of guys showing off their driving skills. Bristol is a lot of fun. But that race at Martinsville yesterday might have me convinced that it's better than Bristol. If they ever take those short tracks off the circuit because there isn't much seating, I'm gonna be pissed.

The superspeedways with restrictor plates are fun the last 10 laps, but that's about it. The first 95% of the race, everyone is just trying to stay out of the big wreck. And hopefully leading their one lap. That's about it. Pretty boring.

The intermediate tracks are hit-and-miss. Don't care for Michigan or California. Nothing ever seems to happen at those races. You can tell who is going to win within the first 20 minutes. The best of the cookie-cutter tracks seems to be Kansas. Seems like there is more passing there.
