Penn State out played them pretty much all night and Snuggy took a stupid major penalty so we were lucky to get the win.....

But only a split against Bemidji State. The Gophers were actually lucky they held on for the win in the first game. BSU kept the pressure on the entire 3rd period.

Gophers shutout Michigan twice this weekend for the sweep, something that hasn't happened since 1943. The sweep pushed them up to #2 in the pairwise as they keep playing some great hockey. Other than running into a couple of hot goalies earlier, they have only lost twice going into the final weekend until the break. Next weekend should be a tough one with Michigan State and a bunch of guys out with injury.

That game never should have gotten to OT to get beat on a bad call. The Gopher tradition of post season underperformance continues.

Motzko has a history of getting to the 3rd period with a lead and the team all of sudden quits doing what it does best and goes into a defensive shell. We quit attacking and just dump the puck in without any forecheck and let them regroup for a full ice rush while we try to play defense. Can't play that way for an entire period and expect to win!

The Gophers had taken control in the second and had a 2 goal lead and the momentum going into the 3rd and then face planted.

Motzko is Woog 2.0. Recruit top players, pile up a good season and go belly up in the post season.

After looking at the replay repeatedly, it looks to me like the Gophers player just lost an edge. The stick checks by the U-Mass players hit his stick and not his legs.

Even though this season has been a complete disappointment, it was nice to watch the Gophers pull out a can of whoop ass on Bucky and get a sweep this weekend. Maybe they are finally starting to get it. Time will tell.

Not a surprise. The Gophers had their worst record in 55 years after several under achieving seasons.

He didn't say 'bad' he said under achieve. There's a difference and he's right. With the talent that's floated through there during his tender, we should have at least 2-3 titles.

Motzko was so badly out coached in the 2023 title game it was embarrassing. He had one of the most talented college rosters ever assembled. He was so afraid of RPI's neutral zone trap that he wouldn't let his team play their game. All game long, it was one forechecker and two guys staying up high.

For both the women's and men's hockey teams it'll be interesting to see what program(s) we poach for replacements. Maybe it'll be people who are currently assistants at the pro level somewhere. Whoever - these two programs deserve top notch coaches to get them back to prior levels.

It's gonna be the Augustana men's coach.

If you go back even farther they averaged at least 10k a game. The attendance wasn't that great with Bob---he started in the 2018-19 season.
