Thought Fleck had some passing game chops at CFU with Cory Davis and all. He runs the Gophers like a HS coach would.

He hasn't coached up a QB yet but he has no issues getting top ranked RB, DE, LB, Olineman, CB, and Safeties as he has got them to the NFL. He has struggled to get a high end QB and WR to stay or improve......sounds like a perfect scenario to go to the portal every year on those two....maybe he finally learned it is a necessity. (Grabbed 2 QBs out of the portal already).

3rd and goal from the 12 and he calls a run. Can we end this experiment? It’s just embarrassing at this point.

You can’t make up that last sequence. 10 seconds left, Gophers have the ball in field goal range, perfectly centered. One time out left. PJ opts to clock it. Then run one more running play to the right. Then uses the time out. Then the field goal misses…wide right.

I’m at a loss for words.

The whole program just stinks. We can't even beat the NC's of the world. What's going to happen when the Oregon's/Michigan's of the world roll through? Possible 4 win team and that's largely based on 2 cupcake out of conference wins at home. And, TBH, they could be losses too.

At first glance, Brosmer doesn't look like and upgrade from Kaliakmanis or Morgan.

God, it's even worse than I thought. We are getting clowned on the national talk shows. Apparently the game winning firework show went off after he missed the kick. Total clown show right now.

Agreed. He did not live up to billing. The offense never found any kind of rhythm. And keep in mind, this isn’t a situation where you can say oh he’ll develop and get better. This was supposed to be a veteran guy who you can plug and play. Sure it’s true we may see some improvement as he and receivers get to know each other, but for the most part he is who is by now.

I’d take Morgan over him.

Yep. Brosmer is a graduate transfer.

It doesn't Matter. How many "good" QB's have we plugged in to his system and they've looked like shit? At some point we need to stop expecting the "new" guy to be the hero. Fleck's philosophy sucks. Subbing 'x' for 'y' has yielded nothing. It's time to call a spade a spade.

The Gophers were the only Big 10 team to lose their opener. I know many had weaker competition. But still, 17-1, and we were the 1. ouch.

I wouldn't....Morgan was a product of 2 NFL caliber WR (Johnson/Bateman) and a third on the verge until injuries (Autmann-Bell).
The problem is PJ is WAY TOO conservative on that side. It is fine when Darius Taylor or a dynamic RB is running the ball (Mo also) but he needs to develop a quick passing game. When you play Zimm ball and it comes down to a kicker every week.......welll it isn't always going to work in your favor.

PJ just said on KFAN that he's thankful to be 1-0. Apparently he did a reset after the North Carolina game. That's a positive way to look at it.

Yes 1-0 on the Rhode Island season. That's standard PJ speak.

Hopefully he will row his boat to the West Coast and find a quarterback. Then, leave the boat nonsense there and fly back home. Gimmicks don't consistently win games in college football, quarterbacks do.

Why only the West Coast?

Why only the West Coast?

Because they will now play games every year out west. It's a great recruiting tool.

Follow along.

and, 11 starting quarterbacks in the NFL are from the West Coast (9 CA, 1 AZ, 1 OR). Might wanna quit ignoring it if you are the Gophers, who haven't had a competent quarterback since Rickey Foggie or Tony Dungy.

Technically, AZ isn't the West Coast.

I was educated a bit recentely and it's helped me understand the PJ Fleck era. He has "concepts" of game management.
