Ha! Also just noticed they are from the same season (2000 Twins). Some great catchers on that team.

This is a fun read

https://puckettspond.com/2017/07/31/minnesota-twins-best-july-31st-deals-franchise-history/

1989: Twins acquire Rick Aguilera, Tim Drummond, Kevin Tapani, David West, and Jack Savage from New York Mets for Frank Viola

Definitely a good trade, as great as Viola was. Tapani and Aguilera were rocks for this franchise for a long time.

Definitely got some return, at least.
A lot of these deals, you can't really judge now, because the temperature at the time the deal is made, sometimes explains or at least excuses, some of the obviously ugly results.

Meaning, some of them were just DONE here … and getting a bucket of balls at the time was all that could have been done.

Here's one of our worst trades (since Ed went there, I guess I will too, even though it was not the original intent of the thread):

Kyle Lohse traded to the Reds for Zach Ward.

Sadly, I think I may know more about the 2000 Twins than any other season.

Even worse

07-29-2010 Traded by Washington Nationals to Minnesota Twins in exchange for Wilson Ramos and Joe Testa (July 29, 2010).

I didn't do just the great

Because it's too easy to pat the Twins on the back for "great" trades. Lots of clunkers too.

Alex Presley was actually a decent backup OF option that got too much playing time. Pretty good defense and good speed.

Was gonna say … actually remember an important at bat or two where he failed miserably, of course ….
