Sam play like a top 10 qb this year?

Couple of plays from 2-0 this season

But how did he play. I watched both. He isn’t doing so hot.

New team. New system. Zero talent compared to what he had in Minnesota.

Seattle looks okay to me. They are going to be a factor in that division. After winning 14 games last year, the Vikings are not going to be a factor in their division.

14-3

Yep you have typed that before. Kirk had that many wins and we didn’t keep him either.

You thought JJ McCarthy was going to be ready. Don't blame that on me. Just be honest and say the kid looks like sh!t.

Not even close to ready. KOC acting like he's a veteran from preseason on. It's ridiculous. I was worried JJ would take some time. He's not that experienced rep wise. He averaged very little yards per game in college. This season may just have to be a throw away. Having said that KOC is doing him ZERO favors.

Here is another problem the Vikings have. I am watching the same schemes that didn't work the final two games of last season. Just like I said at the end of last season, O'Connell is not making adjustments. When your quarterback doesn't have time to throw the ball, you can't run 20-25 yard routes.

Did we see one crossing pattern all night?

The play-calling is just brutal and O'Connell seems unwilling to make adjustments.

If not for the absolute incompetence of the Bears last week this team would be 0-2.

Apparently there's no slants in the playbook. Not so much an offensive guru.

Can’t disagree with you there on possibly being 0-2 but we are 1-1 like Seattle. New game next week.

According to NFL.com, JJ McCarthy is dead last in the league in passer rating (40th).............against Chicago and Atlanta.

Bad drafting is coming home to roost. Hockenson gotta go too. Its tough to free agent your way to a good playoff team.

This team is in big trouble. That kid is not ready to play in the NFL.

Tonight wasn’t his night.

No help from the coach or line though either. Just like Sam last week.

I watch a lot of football. He looks like the worst starting quarterback in the league to me. There ain't no Rutgers on the schedule, and we played Purdue last week.

One game. You win some you lose some. How did Sam look this week?

Remember he became a dad this week also.

If he keeps playing like this, he'll be a full-time parent before the kid hits elementary school.

Maybe. 2nd start.

He looks TERRIBLE!

Tonight yes.

He looked terrible last week. We've had one quarter of competent football in eight quarters. That's it!

I told you after last week that the Vikings look like a 4-5 win team last week. At this point, I'm not sure they get there.

Lets compare Darnold’s last two games as a Viking with McCarthy’s first two.

Advantage JJM.

Thats right. Just shut the hell up …

Lets also compare the two teams they played

As well as Darnolds flame out being at the end of the season … in his seventh season.

vs McCarthy’s first two starts.

No apples and oranges there.

Add to the fact that Brad says the Vikes have a better team---not true if 1) they had kept Darnold and 2) they are really banged up by the 2nd game.

Need to get healthy. After Cincy next week they are overseas for 2 games.

I dont think any actual fan revels in their team’s failure. By definition.

But obviously there’s one or two that come in here to troll specific fan bases.

McCarthy was really bad. A few good plays and bad play by others does not excuse his bobbles and wobbles.

He’s got a long way to go. Doing anything against the bears is proof of nothing.

We’ll find out as we go along.

Thank you. That's all I am asking for. A little honesty. Like you said, McCarthy was terrible and he's a long ways away.

Oddly, when I say McCarthy was terrible I am accused of trolling. When you do it, no response.

We virtually said the same thing.

The one thing Brad hasn't admitted is Daniel Jones was who KOC wanted to keep as they knew Sam's price.

It's not gleeful whatsoever. I never liked McCarthy two months before they drafted him. He was a guy from a running system that had never run a legitimate two-minute offense. It was a bad pick then, and it's an even worse pick now because we let a guy go that won 14 games last season.

There's nothing gleeful about it. All I ask is that you guys think for yourself and quit trying to hope yourself to a Lombardi Trophy.

It's your team. It's my team. I assume it's everybody in here's team.

Last night goes beyond McCarthy. The Vikings failed across the board last night. It speaks volumes about the Falcons that they couldn't blow us out.

First, the Vikings got crushed at the line of scrimmage. Absolutely destroyed on both sides of the ball. The Falcons ran right through our new run stoppers and protected Penix pretty well. The oline was terrible before Kelly went down and got even worse after.

Second, McCarthy was just plain bad. The line didn't help, but JJ made bad decisions and poorly executed throws.

Third, Myles Price cost us a lot of field position with his decisions to return kicks he caught in the end zone. The muffed punt was the exclamation mark on a bad night.

Fourth, once again receivers ran free through the secondary. Penix, like Williams, missed some open targets.

Except the guy they let go obviously wasn't getting us a trophy.....easiest of things to see. Daniel Jones was who the coach wanted to keep.

What was Darnold's QB rating after his 1st 2 games with the Jets ? Did he win one of those games ?

Actually...you should be talking about Daniel Jones.....that is who KOC wanted to keep.

Daniel Jones 6th in QBR.
Sam Darnold 22nd
JJ 32nd.

Brad, McCarthy has shown he can handle the 2 minute drill. He showed that in the comeback against the Bears, and getting a FG, almost a TD with 30 seconds before half against Atlanta showed it again.

The Vikings still have 14 games to play, the Vikings could still better Darnold by going 15-1, and not having wasted all that money on him.

My concern isn't with McCarthy and the 2 minute drill, my concern is he doesn't get off to fast starts, you can't always rely on 4th quarter comebacks.

And the other thing mentioned here is on point, KOC doesn't quickly make adjustments to what the opposing defense is doing.

Beat Cincy, and I think the Vikings can head into their bye at 4-1, then bring on the Eagles at home. Upset the Super Bowl champs, and Vikings have a chance at the #1 seed.

How do you know he didn't make adjustments? Nailor wide open deep and Jones wide open screen pass plus others missed in the All 22 show that could be debated (about KOC adjustments).

My biggest talking point is why not lean a little more on the run game when at the 2 yard line, 2nd and 2, and the 4th and 1......

Darnold is a decent qb.
But that is just Case Keenum/Kirk Cousins fools gold to me.
You get a winning record and ugly exit in the playoffs.

You want elite or flameout.

McCarthy may flameout... but that's the gamble you take.
And then draft early and try again.

Or you hit and get a shot at a ring for a decade or so.
