Status: offline 		Jamison Battle has committed to Ohio State.

This defection doesn’t sting as much as losing our star recruit. I was never a huge Battle fan. He was good at times but only stood out because he was surrounded by mediocrity.

He could be lost in the shuffle at OSU.

Status: offline 		I think NIL is actually going to help the historically mid-tier basketball programs like the Gophers. We'll be able to take advantage of being a team with older players. That works in college hoops.

Status: offline 		Sophomore men's basketball guard Braeden Carrington (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) has announced that he will take an indefinite leave of absence from the program to focus on his mental health. Carrington has started in all 10 games for the Golden Gophers this season.

"We fully support Braeden as he takes this time to focus on his mental health," head coach Ben Johnson said. "Myself, our administration and our team will do whatever we can to help him and I admire Braeden for his courage. We will be here to assist him every step of the way."

Status: offline 		That was a great game at Illinois. Insane how both teams made so many tough shots. I can't even say the defense was bad. Gophers hit 70% from 3-point range and still lost by 8.

Free throws, outside jump shots, bad passes and turnovers. Tried to be quicker to the hoop before defense was set and stumbled and fumbled.
Awful awful BB.

Status: offline 		This portal thing is getting out of hand. I thought players could only use it once under specific circumstances. But players seem to transfer every year.

Heard on the radio a Badger player has never stayed in one school in consecutive years the last 7 dating back to HS.

They just aren't good.....Losing Christie was painful but outside of Garcia and a freshman they have no mismatches. Mitchell has to shoot lights out to stay in games.

I think Johnson is done after this year.

Status: offline 		Ben Johnson out after Gophers get bounced from the Big 10 tournament by Northwestern. After a terrible start to conference play, they started to show signs of life, culminating with the California road trip wins over USC and UCLA. But then they went backwards again and fizzled out.

Not a surprising move. I was rooting for Johnson but I can't say I disagree with the decision. He's had 4 years and they're still losing.

Status: online 		Not a surprise. Johnson was pretty clearly in over his head from the beginning. Coyle thought Johnson and Whalen were going to be the home grown coaches who would lock down the best in state recruits year after year. Turns out neither one could coach.

Status: offline 		Pat Ruesse. Gophers BB had 1.2 NIL dollars. 500k went to Dawson. Payne got 600k and Hawkins 750k to leave.

Successful programs have 5million.

MBB will get 15% next year which will be around 3 million. Gopher Football 15-17 million.

Status: offline 		Medved is a Roseville Area High School graduate and spent one season as an assistant for Dan Monson’s Gophers.

The short version of the profile above is that Medved has done a nice job of bringing back both Furman and Colorado State from some difficult seasons and the plan is for him to do the same thing at Minnesota.

Medved’s teams typically are smart on offense and he has shown an ability to recruit and develop some very good players.

Medved’s Career

1997–1999: Macalester - assistant
1999–2006: Furman - assistant for coach Larry Davis
2006–2007: Minnesota - assistant under Dan Monson for his final season (partial season)
2007–2013: Colorado State - assistant under Tim Miles and then one season with Larry Eustachy
2013–2017: Furman (62–70, 33–37 in conference)
2017–2018: Drake (17–17, 10–8)
2018–2025 Colorado State (143–85, 78–50)

This most recent season was probably the best season he has had over his 12 seasons as a head coach. He took a team that was projected to finish 7th in the Mountain West to a 2nd place finish and tournament title. His Rams earned a 12-seed and went on to upset Memphis and really controlled their game against Maryland for about 36 minutes before eventually losing on a controversial buzzer-beater.

Medved and his wife Erica (a former pitcher on the Furman softball team) have two young daughters and will be moving back to Minnesota where they will be closer to extended family.
