Tell me Sendejo, Theilen, and Banyard were the best options as punt protectors on that last punt and I might...might give Priefer a small nod for the ST's play by Walsh.

Listened to 1st three quarters on radio and watched 4th on TV.

Would it be safe to say that we won the ST battle until the Loeffler snap?

There were only two remarkable plays. The kick by Wash that resulted in a turnover, and the blocked punt.

We wasted the one opportunity we had on a kick off from the 50 - made this one work. The execution was great, the result exemplary...the call...expected.

The blocked punt was shit execution but Priefer set it up.

Did he put vaseline on Loeffler's fingers?

My original question re: protection package stands.

My original question re: protection package stands.

Who is usually back there(Watts)? Banyard had to be a back up.

Anyway, Loeffler snaps it back there like he does 99% of the time, we get the punt off. Extra step to catch the short hop(or was it 2 hops) put Locke 1 to 2 yards closer than he usually would have been.

I'd really like to know.

Seems we might have better blockers for such a key moment.

I haven't seen the game, yet. How did Priefer set it up? I heard CL rolled the ball back there to our punter -- what's his name?

David Levine -> RE: Mike Priefer must GO (12/21/2014 7:22:28 PM)

Also our onside attempt was as good as I've ever seen on a free kick. Perfectly kicked, we just didn't come up with it.

David F. -> RE: Mike Priefer must GO (12/21/2014 7:50:03 PM)

I'm not interested in the best failed onside attempts nor am I impressed with the way we lost the game. This is a league in which we look to the results.

Post the stats versus our opponents.

Just a guess but I think we come out ahead in most categories. Not sure though.

He told the long snapper to snap the ball back to the punter. If he hadn't set that up, it's not possible to have a bad snap. It's simple and unassailable logic.

Todd M -> RE: Mike Priefer must GO (12/21/2014 10:11:07 PM)

Ok, you guys have made it clear that Sendejo, Theilen, and Banyard are our most accomplished blockers and should always be assigned their rolls as punt protectors. Esp in key situations like that. Got it.

Would of the punt been blocked if it was a good snap? Again, how many bad snaps has Loeffler made in his career? How do these blockers compare to other blockers on all the other teams?

Todd M -> RE: Mike Priefer must GO (12/21/2014 10:18:53 PM)

The skipped snap cost a couple tenths of a second. We needed to have Banyard hold his block through that.

Ricky J -> RE: Mike Priefer must GO (12/21/2014 10:32:58 PM)

I know nothing about who should or shouldn't be back there - same for how much I know about how much it's MP's fault for Walsh misses. I do believe it must a chore for anyone to slow some of those athletes down coming in there with a head of stem, though (i.e. when the punter is all ready behind schedule).

Personally I'm getting tired of knowing who our SP coach is as well but I'll be the last person to rip on him for these matters that I know nothing about.

I guess it's time to check out of this thread as well. [;)]

SoMnFan -> RE: Mike Priefer must GO (12/21/2014 10:43:11 PM)

SuperStar Mike Morris was crushed, having to answer all the "punt-snapper" questions today.
Could tell his heart was breaking for Loefller (who stood up like a man afterwards and took the heat)
As Morris said .. your QB can throw three picks a week, and keep his job, but if your PS gets one wrong in 11 years .... its "hit the bricks" time.
Morris also pointed out that it was the perfect storm of shitty events (as usual with us).
Banyard actually DID stand his ground and protect, however, he literally helped the punt-blocker into the path of the ball with his block.
Just a total conglomeration of bad luck, bad play, bad timing. Nothing new for Viking fans.
You can blame em all if you feel so obliged. Snapper bounced it. Punter didn't catch it with hands, it got thru to his gut and delayed the delay even more. And then punted it directly towards the one guy applying pressure. In hindsight I'm sure every culprit would have done things differently.
And hopefully will, in the future.

Wish I could get a screenshot of that.

...cause he doesn't.

Mark Anderson -> RE: Mike Priefer must GO (12/21/2014 10:53:49 PM)

Do we really miss the days of punting and kicking the ball straight to Hester and Bush after they had burned us before?

I would say that we lost the DET game because of ST and probably won the Carolina game because of ST. Today we lost because we gave up 500 yards and 36 first downs to Tannehill led team.

I really don't see much complaining about the ST on other boards. Maybe more political here is the reason.

According to Morris, I guess I shoulda said
Morris talked about his block actually elevating the rusher up into the block
Wasn't exonerating anyone, just saying plenty of blame to go around.

Not seeing it.

Todd M -> RE: Mike Priefer must GO (12/21/2014 10:59:43 PM)

Just took another look.

Banyard got beat and the guy jumps. Morris needs to take another look.

Ricky J -> RE: Mike Priefer must GO (12/21/2014 11:05:15 PM)

So what are you saying "Mike Priefer must Go" ?

Todd M -> RE: Mike Priefer must GO (12/21/2014 11:07:09 PM)

MPMG

Ricky J -> RE: Mike Priefer must GO (12/21/2014 11:14:10 PM)

Just saw the punt.

Can't say I'm on your side on this, Todd. It took a lifetime to get rid of that punt ... and there ain't a Viking on the team that would of keep him from blocking that punt, imo.

MPMS - choke, gag ...

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Mike Priefer must GO (12/22/2014 9:10:48 AM)

I've laughed, I've got so pissed I've almost cried....it runs the gambit.  After the blocked punt I just went "meh" and went about my day.  Kinda weird looking back on it now.  I literally forgot to care.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Mike Priefer must GO (12/22/2014 9:11:36 AM)

As bizarre as that one was it has nothing on Burleson's blocked punt that lost us the game years ago [&:]
