Then they call a bogus traveling against the lynx when our player was pushed.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (6/24/2016 8:43:23 PM)

Ogwumike is really good.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (6/24/2016 8:49:37 PM)

Vintage Whalen on a full court drive and the and one. Huge play to get us within three.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (6/24/2016 8:53:48 PM)

Makeup non-call.[:D]

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (6/24/2016 8:59:49 PM)

We need a miracle or the streak is over.

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (6/24/2016 9:06:50 PM)

That's a shame. We just got flat out beat.

Side note: I really wish we had a local broadcast. I am not liking this LA crew.

That was rough.

I got a bit tired of them always qualifying us: "Minnesota is the best team in the league...on paper".

Black 47 -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (6/25/2016 7:43:17 AM)

Best to watch the games with the volume muted.

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (6/25/2016 11:57:27 AM)

The score looks bad but it doesn't tell the true story of the game. The Lynx had it within three late, as they were down 73-70 with 4:39 left in the game. The Sparks proceeded to go on a 21-6 run to end it, as Minnesota went cold shooting the ball. LA only missed one shot during that final stretch and Candace Parker immediately tipped that one in.

It was a game of runs and the Sparks were the team getting them at the right time. They ended the first quarter on a 13-5 streak to take a three-point lead. They ended the second quarter on an 8-0 run to take a two-point lead. They finished the game scorching hot as I mentioned earlier.

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (6/25/2016 1:26:56 PM)

Biggest problem yesterday was our inability to deal with the Sparks full-court press.

Whalen just can't break it anymore and Mongomery isn't ready. We're going to have to figure this issue out if we want to win the title.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (6/26/2016 7:52:53 PM)

Wow. After beating LA on their court we're on top of the world. Then, losing at home we're now in trouble. Hmm. I always say that it matters how you play down the stretch the most.

Bruce it's an overreaction to say we're in trouble. However, the Sparks have shown themselves to be every bit as good as us. Two team dogfight.

Getting blown out by Washington last night didn't help.

We're starting to see some cracks - now its time to see if we can adjust.

TJSweens -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (6/27/2016 11:48:49 AM)

This seems to happen every year. Get off to a hot start, finally lose a game and follow it up by getting embarrassed by a weak team. They seem to go into a funk for a few games every year.

Fun stuff at the White House again
Lindsay's a star. A flat out star.
Love that gal.

SoMnFan -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (6/28/2016 11:02:10 AM)

My wife pays very little attention to sports.
She is watching the Lynx ceremony with me and hearing the stats
She turns and says "why aren't the Lynx a bigger deal in this sorry-ass sports state"?
Couldn't tell ya, honey. Puzzled myself.

"These women are not just all-star basketball players, they're also leaders in the Minneapolis community. They host an annual Breast Health Awareness game in partnership with the Mayo Clinic. They made holiday cards for children of military members, teamed up with the Twin Cities Boys and Girls Club to help prepare meals for kids who would otherwise go hungry. And the team signed honorary contracts with young boys and girls who are facing big challenges, but dream of playing basketball. For a day, those young people were Lynx teammates -- and that, as much as any trophy, is what makes these women champions."

Brittney Griner finalizes divorce from Glory Johnson over a YEAR after ending their one-month marriage - and is ordered to pay $8,000 a month for her ex's IVF babies

-Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson finalized their divorce over a year after they split
-Griner left Johnson 28 days after they were married, and shortly after Johnson revealed she was pregnant with IVF twins Ava and Solei

-She will not have to pay any spousal support to Johnson
-The two women met last week on the court when Johnson's Dallas Wings defeated Griner's Phoenix Mercury in a WNBA game

Does Griner even make 100k per year? I guess so if she plays overseas. I thought about making more comments, but I changed my mind. You're welcome. [;)]

The WNBA maximum salary is just a hair over 100K. But Griner makes 600K/year playing in China, and (at least as of a couple years ago) has a 1M/year endorsement deal with Nike.

In other words she can easily afford this.

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (6/29/2016 9:02:37 PM)

Tie game and we have a shot clock violation with 3.9 left and we're going to OT against NY without Tina Charles...

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (6/29/2016 9:19:30 PM)

And 3 straight losses.

We blew a 15 point lead to a team that was without its best player...

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (6/30/2016 10:09:13 AM)

quote:

The fourth quarter came and the offensive party was over for the Lynx. After 29 points in the third, the team scored 11 in the 4th. They led 81-66 with a little over six minutes left before New York proceeded to go on a 17-2 run to end regulation all tied up. The worst part of it all was that the Lynx had two chances to take the lead again after it was knotted up.

Janel McCarville missed badly on a long-two and when the team got a second opportunity, no one took the shot. 27.6 seconds were left on the game clock and Lindsay Whalen started the play with about 11 left on the shot clock. You have to give credit to New York for preventing a shot but it was as if the players had no awareness. They passed and passed until the buzzer sounded leaving the road team with 3.5 seconds to take a last shot of their own. They missed as well sending the game to overtime, but the momentum was still in their favor.

quote:

"Perimeter players on every team have their way with us. We can't get out there and guard the three," Reeve assessed after the game. The Mystics hit 11 threes against the Lynx last Sunday and Rodgers had seven of those alone last night. Teams are starting to exploit a defense that buckles down and refuses to let them score in the paint by creating ball movement outside that leads to open shots.

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (6/30/2016 10:10:52 AM)

Its time to counter-punch because it looks like the rest of the league has got us a bit figured out.

Offensively we really struggle with pressure, defensively, we're giving up way too many open 3s.
