What was coming was pretty apparent when Alana Smith got chopped across both forearms without a call on our first possession. No foul, just a turn over by Smith.

That was the most amazing thing about the whole game....we were mugged more, shot fewer FT, and still hung in there.

twinsfan -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (10/21/2024 3:36:04 PM)

They had that highly produced Liberty championship ad all ready to go. Bet they didn't even prepare a Lynx championship ad.

Mark Anderson -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (3/12/2025 1:20:25 PM)

Collier says they might hold out. They want revenue sharing similar to NBA.

What revenue? They lose money every year.

Lynn G. -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (7/1/2025 3:42:30 PM)

Thank goodness for Minnesota women's sports. We actually sometimes have a chance to celebrate championships and tournament wins. Go Lynx tonight!

twinsfan -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (7/2/2025 1:16:05 PM)

Caitlin Clark should not receive any of the money for the Fever winning the Commissioner's Cup.

Lynx running away with leagues best record.

Lynx 16-2
Mercury 12-6
Liberty 12-6

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (7/8/2025 3:17:40 PM)

Kayla McBride a serious All Star snub.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (7/24/2025 12:15:19 PM)

Happened a little while ago, but Napheesa Collier captained an all star team and scored 36 points in 19 minutes.

August 3 - The Minnesota Lynx acquired guard DiJonai Carrington on Sunday from the Dallas Wings, sending forward Diamond Miller, guard Karlie Samuelson and a 2027 second-round draft pick in exchange.

Carrington was Most Improved Player and 1st team all-defense last year.

Miller has struggled with injuries and inconsistent play. Reeve clearly doesn't trust her as a part of the rottation. Samuelson was a 1-year try-out that is done for the season with injury.

For the Lynx it almost seems unfair to the rest of the league to add a top tier POA defender to an already near-historic defense.

TJSweens -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (8/4/2025 8:54:20 PM)

It was pretty obvious that a trade was about to happen when Diamond Miller didn't see the floor in a 50 point blow out of the Aces. I was a little surprised it was for a guard. There was a lot of steam that Reeve was shopping for a post player after losing out on Emma Meessemen. Instead, she went for a pretty good player, who is a great system fit. My guess is she will swing behind McBride and Carlton.

I just read that Collier's ankle sprain will have her out for at least 2 weeks. If it's just the 2, she would miss 3 games. That would be pretty lucky. She never should have been on the floor with a 40 point lead. Reeve defended the decision by saying despite a big lead it was a road game and therefore not safe. The problem with that was that Hammond had already thrown in the towel and pulled all of her starters.

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (8/6/2025 1:42:51 PM)

With her strong play, the Lynx decided to close the game with Carrington on the court, and that decision paid dividends. In the fourth quarter, Carrington scored 10 of her 13 total points to go along with a steal, a block, and a pair of rebounds, immediately showcasing why the Lynx made the move to acquire her.

The Lynx have gone 3-0 and stretched their lead for the top seed with Collier on the shelf. Carrington had a big impact in all 3 games. I really think DeJonai Carrington will benefit the Lynx more than Emma Meessemen would have.

The win against the Liberty today was the best of the three. The Liberty were without Stewart, but had Meessemen fully integrated. She still has some nice offensive skills, but seemed to fatigue as the game went on. Reeve countered the NY size with a two big combo. Kliundikova got some extended run at center with Alana Smith sliding to the 4. NY still had the size advantage, but the Lynx were a lot quicker and more athletic than Meessemen and Jones. Kliundikova and Smith seemed to disrupt every passing lane in the second half.

The Lynx are now the first team to clinch a playoff spot and are still 6 games ahead of the #2 team.

Something else worth noting is that the Lynx are in position to both win the title and come away with the first pick of the 2026 draft. They are the #1 seed for the playoffs and they own Chicago's first round pick. The Sky currently own the second worst record meaning the second most ping-pong balls in the lottery.

Its actually the combined record over the current and previous season.

So we're still 2nd right now, but its a bit more complicated. The Sun have the worst record in the league, but are 5th in lottery odds. Dallas has the 3rd worst record, but the best lottery odds.

If the season ended today:

DAL: 18
CHI: 21
LA: 23
WSH: 28
CON: 34

TJSweens -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (8/16/2025 8:28:25 PM)

Chicago is sinking like a stone. I like their chances of at least hanging onto that spot. LA is at 24 now.

Meanwhile the Lynx beat NY again and have 7 game lead in the seedings. Now 4-0 since Collier went down.

twinsfan -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (8/18/2025 1:17:13 PM)

Is it weird that the WNBA's 3 best players are currently injured and have all been injured for large portions of the season? I'm talking about Collier, Stewart and Clark.

Isn't it kind of lazy for the WNBA team to use the same team name as the NBA team?

They don't.
