There was never a point when the Lynx were a sure thing to win it all. Despite the record there are a lot of other good teams in that top 8. This is easily the strongest playoff field in league history. The Libert are the 8th seed and they are two years removed from a league championship and have two former MVP on their roster. The Aces have the best player in women's basketball and a HOF point guard. The Fever with Clark, Mitchell and Boston. Atlanta, Washington Dallas and Golden State have built really good young teams.
The FIBA had nothing to do with anything. The Lynx had a couple of bad losses ahead of the tournament and a few players said their bodies needed the break.

McBride said she welcomed the break because her body was all beat up.
This is the start of Matt's annual "since the Twins stink, I'm going to try to make fans of other Minnesota teams just as miserable as I am" phase.
That is unfounded. I've been following the Lynx all season. Maybe the break isn't the problem. Maybe the problem is the Lynx have kind of stunk since Collier returned. From what I've seen, it looks like Miles and Collier are incompatable players on the same team. Miles needs the ball to create playes. Collier needs the ball to create for herself. Gott figure it out or I think trading Collier this offseason is the way to go. Look how good we were without her.
She'll be a free agent.
But yoiu've been following them all season...
Not to mention the Lynx went on a 10-1 run when Phee came back.
They did. But even during the run they weren't playing as well as before. Especially on defense.
