I believe that the best player on the Lynx was not on the Olympic team. Do you all know who I am referring to?

Brunson?

I would think you have to mean Brunson. She is one of those rock solid players that do the dirty work. Last season she started so hot she was the WNBA player of the month. If you were to ask me where she stood in the heirarchy of best Lynx players I would put her at #4 but on the Lynx #4 is very good.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (8/27/2012 7:33:24 PM)

She seems to do everything well. She scores very efficiently, and she is the best rebounder on the team. Also, she seems to be so consistent. I really believe that she is underrated.

I am a fan of Brunson but she is still the fourth best player on the team.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (8/28/2012 8:07:29 PM)

The team does well taking care of the ball. Lindsey Whalen has a very low turnovers per game, average. (2.2) which means she turns the ball over less than once every ten minutes that she is on the court. That's got to be really good for a point guard. Brunson has the lowest turnover average amongst the starters, by the way.

41 yr old Taj McWilliams-Franklin. [;)] To do what she's doing at almost 42 is crazy [:-]

But seriously, people can debate who the teams best player is and not really be wrong. But without a doubt this TEAM is REALLY special. Taj, what can you say; no one comes close to doing ALL of what Whalen does from the PG spot; nobody has the shot making creativity of Seimone Augustus; Brunson makes rebounding an art form; Maya is still a young pup who has time to make her mark; the rest of the young bench players have their moments. A team full of talent, great coaching staff, great player chemistry.

With all the drama going on in WNBA right now, what we have here is about as close to perfect as a team could ever be. This team is just plain fun to watch in person, especially when they get on a roll.
So I'm going to enjoy this while I can. Because we all know, nothing last forever [sm=yup0zd.gif]

Target Center has been really live for every home game coming out of the Oly break. Considering they have had games up against Vikes pre-seaons gm, nice weather, the State Fair & Twins gms right next store, its been great to see the crowds & have so much energy in the building.

Fun write up from a bloger @ WNBAlien on this last home game:

•This was a fun game, played by two teams that are obviously brimming with confidence. Both teams were more than happy to push the pace whenever they had the chance, and both have the necessary team ethos to play effective defense. Neither could create much separation on the scoreboard.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (9/1/2012 6:48:06 AM)

Lynx have Brutal final stretch of four games. Sparks, Silver Stars, Dream, and Sky. While we could sweep we certainly could lose a couple of those games.

SoMnFan -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (9/1/2012 8:54:18 PM)

Maybe a blessing, will keep them sharp as playoffs approach?
This group seems to love a challenge.

The Sparks and Silver Stars have cooled off recently. I hope we can cool them off some more. Other than our Lynx those are four of the top five teams in the league. Seriously tough stretch. Two wins locks up home court advantage for the playoffs.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (9/5/2012 8:55:27 AM)

Lynx with an easy win over LA last night. Augustus 23 points and career best six threes. Moore with 23 points and career best seven steals. Candace Parker isn't really healthy though. Still amazing nine game winning streak. Seven games left I believe until the playoffs.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (9/6/2012 7:27:36 PM)

A "Ripley's believe it or not" The Lynx are 22-4 on the season but have a three game losing streak. What are the odds against that. Nine game winning streak right now. Against Dream on Friday night going for ten. What is the WNBA record for wins in a season again?

28 (happened twice in 32 game seasons).

If we win out (30-4), we'd have the 2nd best winning% of all-time. 29-5 would put us 4th.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (9/8/2012 7:57:39 AM)

Lynx win streak grows to ten but it wasn't easy. The Lynx missed 20 out of 23 shots to start the game against the Dream and fell behind by 25. They ended up winning in double overtime. The comeback from 25 down tied the all time WNBA record. Augustus left the game with an ankle injury and likely will miss some time.

Minnyme -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (9/9/2012 2:31:21 PM)

Big time come back Friday night vs. ATL. Instant classic to watch if you have the WNBA live access feed.

Seimone has a sprained right foot & is day to day. Monica Wright gets the start. 7 reg season gms left & magic # is 2 to wrap up the West, and 4 (combo W/L over CT) to clinch best in the league. So no need to rush w/Seimone.
The bench could use more PT to get ready for the play-offs any way so its all good.

Minnyme -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (9/9/2012 4:38:33 PM)

And the defending Champs win yet again 81-62 over San Antonio. Without Seimone, they got big time prduction out of their BenchMob which made it a fun game to watch.

11 gm winning streak and counting. Nice way to start 3gm road trip ... on to Chicago to play the Sky on Tues.

I love this team [sm=icon_mrgreen.gif]

** Edit: With the NY Liberty win over the LA sharks this afternoon, the Minnesota Lynx are Western Conf. regular season Champs holding home court thru the Conf play-offs of course.

Some things are hard to explain. I believe San Antonio had a 12 game winning streak earlier now they have a five game losing streak. Statistically Maya Moore is slowly taking over the team. Talk about an all around stat stuffer.

Led the team in rebounds, assists, and points.

Peters had a very efficient game, too. It's going to be interesting to see how she develops.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (9/9/2012 9:23:53 PM)

Moore does seem to be getting better. I think that her being on the Olympic team was a plus, for her.

I haven't been checking out the rest of the leagues players and who has been having the big seasons but Is Maya in the Mix for league MVP this year? Should she get some votes?

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (9/11/2012 9:52:06 PM)

Her scoring line also improved because Augustus has been hurt, I believe.

But what happened today? Did they clinch home court advantage and today decide to take it easy? I bet they did.

Wow losing to the 11-17 Sky by 13. We didn't have Augustus but they didn't have Fowles. Just shows why you play the games because this was a Lynx victory on paper.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (9/12/2012 10:44:53 AM)

It is clear that I am a little infatuated with the idea that Maya Moore may now be the best player on the Lynx and one of the best in the WNBA. I am about to ask a question that may seem as a slight to Lyndsay Whalen but it is not meant that way. I am just curious. What has changed in the Lynx game plan that Maya Moore has now been leading the team in assists more often than not?

I wonder if we could get together a fantasy WNBA league next year? Is there an internet host for such a league? Moore would be crazy good in that with filling every stat across the board. Threes are hard to come by and Moore will likely get three a game along with all the other stats.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (9/14/2012 9:00:43 AM)

Lynx have a tough game against the Fever tonight. Can they bounce back from the last game? Fever are 12-3 at home this year. Got to try to watch this one.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (9/15/2012 12:37:19 AM)

Lynx win at Fever by two. Last second shot by Whalen. Moore led the Lynx in points, rebounds, and assists.

Down at the half, got down by double figures in the 2nd half.

Gave up a lot of 3s, hit some of their own.

Augustus was limited in minutes by coaches.

Moore is tough.
