There is her 30.

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (5/24/2014 8:52:57 PM)

Lynx PR @Lynx_PR
AND she does it! Maya Moore with 30 points, becoming the first #WNBA player to post 30+ points in 4 consecutive games. #LosLynx

There is her 30.

Very remarkable and unprecedented 4 30s in a row.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (5/24/2014 8:57:12 PM)

Whalen with a steal that should be enough to wrap up the win.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (5/24/2014 8:58:52 PM)

In crunch time Which Lynx player would you most want taking the FTs?

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (5/24/2014 8:59:48 PM)

Big make.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (5/24/2014 9:03:11 PM)

4-0 Baby. Not only surviving the depleted lineup but thriving.

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (5/24/2014 9:03:51 PM)

Huge to sweep a back-to-back as short handed as we are!

OK I just found the scoring record. By a player I have never heard of Riquna Williams of the shock. She is in this game so it would be fun to have Maya take her record while playing against her.

That 51 pt gm swayed some voters to vote for her as 6th Women of the Year [&o] over Monica Wright [sm=soapbox.gif]. Williams is a player that pretty much likes to shot/score where as Monica and ATL’s Tiffany Hayes play both sides of the ball, really well, finished 2nd & 3rd. Monnie was robbed but that will likely be the only award Williams will ever win so happy for her [sm=paperbag2.gif]

Brazilian Damiris Dantas is Minnesota Lynx’s next big thing

http://www.minnpost.com/sports/2014/05/brazilian-damiris-dantas-minnesota-lynx-s-next-big-thing

Last week, Lynx and Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor hosted his annual preseason team dinner at his home in Mankato. Dantas grabbed a seat next to McCarville, leaning on her new friend to provide real-time translation of the table conversation. McCarville may be fast, but she’s not a stenographer. Things quickly got out of hand.

“She was elbowing me every two seconds, but I couldn’t type and translate as fast as everyone was talking,” McCarville said after practice Wednesday at Minneapolis Community and Technical College. “She kept elbowing me and elbowing me, and I’m like, ‘Dee, calm down.’”

People who think of women's basketball as an after thought or nothing special are really missing out. There are no basketball teams in this region, men's or women's at any level, pro included that can match what the Minnesota Lynx have built and done over the few yrs. That's not said to put down the Wolves or shame people into "having to watch the Lynx."
Its just a statment as to how special the Lynx are right now, to this sports fan.

I just hope people take a little time to soak in what we have in this Lynx team. They’re well coached. Whalen is a the ultimate floor leader who will be among the best PGs ever in this league when she’s done; Brunson is that athletic post defender and rebounder who (somewhat quietly to many), when she’s done will be one of the best PF’s to have played in the WNBA; Seimone over her 9 yrs has been one of the most consistent, efficient scorers in the world. And individually Maya has been out of this world but all and I’d like to include McCarville, Wright & Peters are all talented and are the ultimate team players, all sacrificing some for the good of the whole. That is how titles are won. This team is special because of the special people that make up the core. Just don't get that every day in sports at any level.

Great post Minnyme.
Wont pretend to be a Lynx expert or backer, but I respect the hell out of what they have and will accomplish yet.
Loaded with talented players who step up when needed.
It appeared they would start the season decimated by some bad breaks and injuries. Nope.
MM just plays harder, their other role players just roll with it, and they keep moving on like the well-oiled best team in the league.
From the outside, they just give off the vibes of
well-coached
tough
savvy
and loaded.
They have me checking the scores every night they play, and taking some strange pleasure in being from Minnesota.
Yeah, maybe we all put way too much emphasis on sports teams, maybe we all over-estimate what sports results do for us, but these gals have done nothing but good things for this state and their sport, from what this outsider has seen.
Enjoy the hell out of it, you diehards ...... [sm=buttrock.gif]

Monica Wright is one of those rare reserves, where fans say player X would start for most any other team and have it be true. She is not only a really good player, she has a combination of physical attributes and basketball skills that allow her to play at a high level at as many as 3 different positions. In other words if she is one of your 5 best players you will find a way to get her into your lineup. I can't think of many teams where she wouldn't be one of the 5 best players.

You would appreciate this SMF. Maya Moore collides heads with a teammate chasing a loose ball and gets a nasty cut over her eye. Get the bleeding stopped, steri-strip that sucker shut, finish scoring 30 to lead your team to a win and get it stitched up after the game. She coulda been a hockey player!

SoMnFan -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (5/25/2014 9:51:20 AM)

Love it Sweens.
Did I hear she just set some kind of "goes for 30+ every night" kind of record last night?
Warrior.
I've ssaid it for years now .. the best (and toughest) competitors in town wear those Lynx jerseys.
Can almost always count on them to play big at big times. While all the men in town shrink like little violets.

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (5/25/2014 10:55:21 AM)

Maya Moore is scoring 33.8 PPG with a 0.697 TS% (51.6% on threes), while getting to the line 7 times/game (and hitting 93%).

AND she leads the team in rebounds, steals, and blocks.

You really should watch them - they'll make a believer out of you. They're entertaining as hell.

And its like 15 bucks for a season pass (and you often get the Lynx TV feed with Wolves radio guy Alan Horton - one of the best in the biz).

If you want to be cheap you can watch Lynx games at a site called firstrowsports.eu but make sure you have an ad blocker and don't click on the ads. I live in Arizona now and watch Vikings, Wild, Wolves, Lynx, an occasional rodents game on this site, but can't get it to work for the Twins.

SoMnFan -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (5/25/2014 11:20:50 AM)

I've seen all their highlight packages and watch every clip of them I can.
Rarely see whole games, but I do see enough of them to see all those things DL.
Going to try to watch more complete games. Its a shame they aren't more readily accessible to the average viewer.
Every game of theirs should be on FSN+ or FSN, depending on what else is going on.
Maybe someday.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (5/25/2014 11:25:02 AM)

Is Maya Moore right now the best to ever play women's basketball? If you subscribe to the idea that players are getting better and she is the best right now and close to her prime that has to be considered.

I ordered this years package Fri and started watching on my IPad. All half way through the 1st half it popped out and as I kept trying to get to it again, I lost it as fast as I connected. I couldn't even get the other games. I emailed live access and in about 15 minutes I got a app update and that fixed the problem. If only other apps were that efficient

David Levine -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (5/26/2014 10:40:56 AM)

Lynx are on ESPN2 today at 2:30 CST.

Its our 3rd game in 4 days and its against the best team in the East - Elena Delle Donne's 4-0 Sky.

kgdabom -> RE: Minnesota Lynx (5/26/2014 10:42:59 AM)

Lynx play at The Chicago Sky at 2:30 Minnesota time today. Chicago is 4-0 as are the Lynx. If we can win this game maybe we are bulletproof to these injuries. If I were not a Lynx fan I would probably bet on the SKy today.

Yeah EDD is great and all that but for today I want her to suck and for us to shut her down and Lynx defeat the SKy.
