I think the XFL is a bad idea, but I kind of like their Extra Point rule:

In the XFL, there will be no kicking extra points, instead they’ll follow the rules used in flag football where you can choose to go for 1, 2, or 3 points after with an offensive play from the 2, 5, or 10 yard line.

Very interesting. I would go for the three every time except for situationally like you're down one point and it's the last play of the game. Then I would go for 2.

A team that was down 18 points in the fourth quarter would still have a shot. It would put more premium on the fourth quarter, I suppose, when the players are more tired.

I think from the 2 a team would get the score maybe 50% of the time. From the 5 maybe 35% from the 10 maybe 25-30%. If I got those right going for three from the 10 would produce the most overall points.

If the stats I just looked at are accurate 19 NFL teams converted two point trys at 50% or better this season with 5 teams at 100%. It makes no sense to go for the one except circumstantially.

Washington has exercised their 2020 option on the contract of Adrian Peterson.

Peterson had signed a two-year deal with the team option last offseason. He'll receive a $2.25 million base salary with a roster bonus of $109,375. He carries a $3.1 million salary-cap hit.

Peterson has played in 31 of 32 games since joining Washington.

"Going into this season, there's so much more I can do and how I can help this team," Peterson told ESPN by phone on Wednesday. "My mentality is showing the Adrian Peterson of old and not just flashes; really showing, 'Wow, this cat is on a whole different level.'"

The Puke lose Blake Martinez in FA to the Giants. IMO very good news.

joejitsu -> RE: Other NFL News (3/17/2020 8:06:07 AM)

Brady is out of New England. He's looking at Tampa or Los Angeles. (or maybe Indy?).

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Other NFL News (3/17/2020 6:06:07 PM)

My bet is that he goes to the Chargers with their new stadium in Tinsletown.

joejitsu -> RE: Other NFL News (3/17/2020 6:22:22 PM)

I’m thinking Tampa. He’s moved his family to Florida, and they can offer him more money.

and no state income taxes where California is some of the highest in the nation.

You are right KG. It's official. The Vikings play the Bucs in Tampa this season, by the way.

It will be fun Kicking Brady's ass.

Looks like Bears are 5M over right now.

Don't you have to be under cap after new league year starts?

With all of the coronavirus stuff going on, probably there are agreements without actual signings. I'm not clear about that, though.

Mark Anderson -> RE: Other NFL News (3/21/2020 9:43:40 AM)

Seahawks have offered Clowney 18.5M per. He wants 20M.

Ergo Seattle's alleged interest in Everson Griffin.

Yea, I don't think Everson is Clowney, but the drop off isn't going to be the ten to twelve million difference in pay. Clowney is dreaming and not worth that chunk of a teams cap. Wow, the money this entertainment sport shells out is amazing, too bad the product isn't.

I was wondering if Seattle's "interest" in Griffen was put out there to get Clowney to drop his $ demands.

Horrible. They just can't leave well enough alone.

Which seems like a really odd phrase when you look at it.

I'd be pissed if I were a Los Angeles Rams Fan. I'd be spitting blood through my eye gland pissed if I were ever a St. Louis or previous LA fan.

It looks to me like a transportation or shipping logo. Too corporate.

That will work great when they move to Oxnard in 4 years.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Other NFL News (3/25/2020 6:36:49 PM)

I'm ok with it. We'll soon become used to it.

Looks bush league

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Other NFL News (3/28/2020 11:44:27 AM)

I've got some time, now. I usually have always worked Saturdays, but because of the virus I'm home today. I decided to watch the ESPN series on OJ Simpson. It's quite a story- I mean his life.

Anyway, I looked up his 40 time because I knew he was a track star and he was fast. He did a 4.28 40 at his combine. He didn't look that fast to me, but he was 6'1" and he had long strides. He wasn't Bo Jackson fast, but he was fast!

Lynn G. -> RE: Other NFL News (3/28/2020 12:53:32 PM)

But did you have to watch it with a vomit bucket next to you, knowing what a monster he became?

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Other NFL News (3/28/2020 1:52:25 PM)

I'm finishing episode 2 now. Of course I know what a monster he became, but I separate the younger Simpson from the one who lost control of himself.

He was a womanizer and a wife beater. People knew that. The police knew it too, but gave him preferential treatment. He was a sports hero and a celebrity and somehow that gave him license and privilege.

Like most people I was upset he got away with it. It seems that many people identified with him and felt that his escape from responsibility was justified due to the injustices they had seen or experienced.

I've always thought that two wrongs do not make a right.

I agree that Simpson became a scary monster. Today I find myself softening on him thinking that he has become pathetic and his whole life has become like a Shakespeare tragedy.
