Calling him Joe Blow....that's an insult...
Kinda obvious

Your opposing kickers for the next two games at U.S. Bank Stadium: Blair Walsh and Daniel Carlson.

R the Vikings cursed with kickers?!

beo -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/24/2019 5:59:51 PM)

Remember when we were talking about Vedvik doing both punter and FGs.

Yeah, we managed to ruin Bailey, Wile and Vedvik... WTH?

David Levine -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/24/2019 6:22:55 PM)

How do the replay officials look at this and not call it a fumble?

This board’s worst trait is how we treat newcomers and people with opinions outside of the accepted norm.

Did anyone hear the condescension shown on the skornorth podcast towards fans wanting Sloter to get more looks against #2s, etc?

Courtney Cronin said Vikings fans "sound uneducated" yet was not able to add 19+9 in her head without asking for help/reassurance (pretty damn important to know automatically in football lol). Also, the other podcaster (Judd?) talked about fans getting caught up in stats, using the example of when Boone padded Sloter's stats by gaining 45 yds. on a short pass (Cronin actually corrected him and correctly attributed the pass to Mannion). [&:]

A lot of people speaking up aren't the ones who were clamoring for Bowman, Heineken, etc. This is different, even teammates are wearing his t-shirts lol.

EDIT: teammates are wearing his t-shirts link

A QB needs to avoid the rush probably 20% of the time. Statue Mannion will get killed if he can't get his 1st read. Plus, with his weak arm, CBs will be not be afraid of the deep throw or anything that needs any mustard on it.

Sloter fits this offense perfectly. Who cares if he isn't a great help to Cousins on the sideline. Why do we have a QB coach?

more smileys..

I don't know who is being quoted saying Mannion has a weak arm. I have heard he has a quite strong arm.

Mike Zimmer on Kyle Sloter: “Every time he comes in the game, he does well.”

What twitter doesn’t show you is Zimmer’s expression, like someone had kicked him in the balls while saying that.

"The leg injury this year has apparently made him question his love for the game, and now he’s ready to walk away, in what may be the most shocking retirement in NFL history."

Andrew Luck has retired.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/24/2019 8:57:12 PM)

Incredible. Shocking. His next interview will be must-watch.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/24/2019 9:00:29 PM)

Son-of-a-B I just realized that the Colts are going to come for Sloter.

odin -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/24/2019 9:01:56 PM)

Boyd and Zylstra had notable performance...for the good? Sloter not mentioned. Boyd looked lost to me, especially at first.

Do you agree this is a puzzling (and/or lazy) article?: 10-players-who-stood-out/

Not only did
@TomBrady
outlast Peyton Manning, but he’s outlasted Manning’s successor in Andrew Luck. Think about that for a minute.

uggh, can we never have nice things here?

You've been right about too many things to dismiss this as a possibility.

I thought I'd put a few player opinions/observations here since it's been dead.

Offense:
I see Udoh in a lot of "53" projections as being a PS player. I hope to hell they aren't even considering that. I don't remember too many rookie OTs showing the flashes he does. He's steamrolled some guys like they are little kids and moves a lot better than I thought he was projected to move. I think he could be a starter eventually (probably sooner than later) and maybe a very good one. If he was a talented, "raw" 2nd or 3rd rounder, I'd be happy with what he's show so far, so I can't see taking any risks with him.

Samia should be a lock over the usual deadwood we keep on OL, no Willie Beavers II here.

Blasingame needs to be kept on the 53, I've also seen him being projected as PS material. I'd keep him over Ham if they can't keep both due to youth and upside. He has another gear that makes him a serious weapon compared to the usual FB.

Jordan Taylor: did he even fight for the pass down the left sideline from Sloter? What good is a tall guy who is passive? I hope one or more of the young WR steps up very soon.

Defense:
I'm so glad we got odinBIGO back, I was pissed last year when they let him get away. He will be a nice addition to the d-line rotation.

I'm hoping to see a big game from Hercules today. I'm hoping he provides some disruptive interior pass rushing and can be part of a Nascar package.

I hope we can sign Kearse to an extension. He has looked outstanding and apparently has responded well to coaching.

LBs: I want to see Barr rush the passer more and be part of the Nascar package. No other real strong opinions here other than why do we keep picking slow guys w/ limited cover skills? I'd rather have Kearse in the game than one of them.

Are they trying to sneak Kris Boyd to the PS? I don't remember hearing his name during the games. I was hoping he'd be a nice addition and backup at least.

Karter Schult looks more like a PS guy with pretty good upside. I thought he looked raw but seems to flash some pass-rush ability that is worth coaching up.

It's unanimous between you and I. Agree with everything posted. I might add Watts to this list. J Johnson was supposed to be the DT of the future, but Watts has the frame to add weight and is looking very good early on.

Very excited about some of the young oline talent.
Line of the future: O'Neil, ? , Bradbury, Samia, Udoh. I'm hoping Elf proves me wrong, we might have to draft a guard pretty high next year.

We will need to fill a couple holes:
DT - Watts?
CB (Be very interesting to see if Rhodes bounces back - if not, resigning Waynes might come into play)
3rd WR

My jaw dropped when I saw the headline.

Brisset will get a chance to prove what he can do. Sloter is a RFA so we could place a high tender on him.

Zimmer and Slick both have jobs on line.
Without a decent playoff run they both should be gone
I don't think Cousins has enough moxie.

You thinking maybe a 5th to re-coup the one we gave away on the trade for a K/P [:o]

Watts is 6'5" and 300.
Joseph is 6'4" and 330.

Add 25 lbs of muscle to Watts, 1-2 yr(s) of seasoning and I think he's a Hicks/Joseph type of playmaker.

Well they targeted him.

I agree, this year needs to be the end if they don’t win one playoff game.

Their faults are becoming a broken record.

"At a loss."

Mike Zimmer said concern level is "high" with newly-acquired Kaare Vedvik and his specialist situation after Vedvik missed his first two field goals with #Vikings on Saturday.
