Thebigo....some Joe Blow??!
Dude u need to chill a bit.
Vikings board...we respect each other.

The "Joe Blow" reference was clearly directed at the author of the article, indicating that he was "just some guy", not directed at your, I'm guessing, brother?

I don't think I'm the one who needs to take a pill.

Son-of-a-B I just realized that the Colts are going to come for Sloter.

My jaw dropped when I saw the headline.

Brisset will get a chance to prove what he can do. Sloter is a RFA so we could place a high tender on him.

They'll offer a late round pick and the Vikes will take it I fear.

You thinking maybe a 5th to re-coup the one we gave away on the trade for a K/P [:o]

Houston's Miller just went down. I'd offer Abdullah for a conditional 5th. Or even Boone for a conditional 4th.

The explanation I heard was that because it was preseason there were not the usual number of cameras available for replay reviews.

Hwhat lol?! Neither is worth more than a conditional 7th in 2021.

They already traded for Duke Johnson. If they're going to trade again, it's not going to be for either guy and certainly not at THAT price.

Sloter wont be a Colt, unless they made an offer we couldn't refuse, which they wont. 2020 is a monster draft year for QBs. No reason to trade for Sloter or sign him as a RFA.

The Colts will trot out Brissett like you said and they'll ride with him. If he stinks, it becomes a tank year.

Now, I can see them trading their valuable players for picks and cap relief, so they can start over in 2020. TY Hilton could easily be on the block.

Some early standout performers from #Vikings vs. Cardinals: Everson Griffen, Ifeadi Odenigbo, Armon Watts, Devante Downs, Brett Jones, Mike Boone and Olabisi Johnson. A full review piece will be up on @VikingsCorner this week!

Brett Jones has been so consistent in training camp and the preseason, especially as a run blocker. He helped lead the way during Mike Boone's 7-yard touchdown. #Vikings

Houston's depth chart at RB: Damarea Crockett, Josh Ferguson, and Cullen Gillaspia (after cutting D'Onta Foreman).

Forgot about Houston's trade for Duke Johnson; just looked up the details of the deal. Conditional pick that could go as high as a 3rd rounder. Didn't realize they invested so much already.

Duke's never had more than 104 carries in a season, mostly used in a Mckinnon role. And with that depth chart, they'll be pretty active. Ajayi coming off ACL? Otherwise it's wait for cuts (if they don't make a trade):

One more from Daniel House.

Following up on this: Watts just got push and impacted two plays on the last drive. I'm curious to watch the game back, but he looks like he's having another strong outing. The interior DL roster cuts will be interesting. #Vikings

So the replay officials didn't have access to the broadcast video? Because that Twitter video is exactly what they showed on TV and the Cards announcers couldn't believe it wasn't ruled a fumble...

they never showed this angle on television...they said that they had limited cameras because it was a preseason game...on nfl.gamepass we only saw the fumble from the back of the runner....

try to move jaleel johnson to the practice squad, if we lose him, no big deal....watts has way more upside...also, shamar stephen showed his worth - he's a solid run stopper in the middle....

Watts is 6'5" and 300.
Joseph is 6'4" and 330.

Add 25 lbs of muscle to Watts, 1-2 yr(s) of seasoning and I think he's a Hicks/Joseph type of playmaker.

weights that they quote are normally via the combine or college weight...i'd guess that today watts' true weight is closer to 315 than anything listed out there....

ratoppenheimer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/25/2019 4:22:28 AM)

.
.
i think that sefanski called a poor game for cousins...he didn't use the 'running game -- play action' well...he seemed to try to open up the run with a pass first offense...plus, the crowd was completely out of the game and i think if affected the players...the event had the essence of an nfl game being played on another planet and watched by humanoids that had never seen football before....

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/25/2019 7:23:36 AM)

Beebe may be counted on to be a holder. Perhaps his pass catching has been distracted.

I think they had Wile hold during the game. I was wondering why Beebe didn't continue holding for Vevdik, since isn't that what they've been doing in practice? Why not play like you practice, barring injury or sudden ineffectiveness? Somehow, some way, they've apparently managed to make this effort to make things better into a huge distraction.

Unless both Cousins and Mannion made the same misread in consecutive games, Beebe has made two egregious errors in reading coverages. Growing up in an NFL family, he should have known the difference between man and zone before middle school at the latest. You may be right about him being distracted. No one wants to do a "Tony Romo"

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/25/2019 8:53:47 AM)

Still there is one game and two weeks to work out the kicking situation. I had the feeling that they let Wile play with hopes of a trade and/or with respect to him giving him a chance to audition for another team.

A Nationally Televised game(even if it is preseason) and you don't have the technology to see that. And Goodell makes 40M. [:-]

Did anyone hear the condescension shown on the skornorth podcast towards fans wanting Sloter to get more looks against #2s, etc?

Courtney Cronin said Vikings fans "sound uneducated" yet was not able to add 19+9 in her head without asking for help/reassurance (pretty damn important to know automatically in football lol). Also, the other podcaster (Judd?) talked about fans getting caught up in stats, using the example of when Boone padded Sloter's stats by gaining 45 yds. on a short pass (Cronin actually corrected him and correctly attributed the pass to Mannion). [&:]

A lot of people speaking up aren't the ones who were clamoring for Bowman, Heineken, etc. This is different, even teammates are wearing his t-shirts lol.

EDIT: teammates are wearing his t-shirts link

A QB needs to avoid the rush probably 20% of the time. Statue Mannion will get killed if he can't get his 1st read. Plus, with his weak arm, CBs will be not be afraid of the deep throw or anything that needs any mustard on it.

Sloter fits this offense perfectly. Who cares if he isn't a great help to Cousins on the sideline. Why do we have a QB coach?

more smileys..

I don't know who is being quoted saying Mannion has a weak arm. I have heard he has a quite strong arm.

He can rifle a check down pretty good.

McMurfy -> RE: General Vikes Talk (8/25/2019 9:45:25 AM)

Paul Allen had plenty of condescension towards Sloter during the NFL Network Broadcast.

Why anyone likes that asshole is beyond me.

Total Amateur.

Allen is a tool. I lost count of the amount of times he pointed out that Sloter is doing it against second and third teams. Does he think Manion is playing against starters?

Then Bercich chimes in and the whole thing gets even dumber. Manion is better for Cousins to be able to talk to on the sidelines.... there was that time Sloter had a delay of game ... Manion rode the bench for a team that went to the Super Bowl .... Manion looks a little sharper in practice.

Notice how everything they say about Manion has nothing to do with on field performance? Why could that be?

At least Lieber broke ranks a little and said ... yeah, but he still always has that feeling when Sloter takes the field, something good is going to happen.
