The #Vikings have allowed a grand total of three sacks and 16 pressures over the past three games.

They allowed six sacks and 21 pressures in Week 4 alone.

The offensive line deserves a TON of credit for the current three-game win streak.

No question in my mind. OL play is the most vital part of our success. We've got some of the best offensive skill players in football. They just need a little operating room.

I feel like Cousins throwing into tight windows with confidence is every bit a reason as the continual improvement of the Oline. In the Bears game he was holding the ball way too long when guys were open. I don't know if the national attention put a chip on his shoulder but from the beginning of the Giants game he's been pulling the trigger with ferocity! I just hope the offense continues to play well and the line continues to improve like it has.

For a HC that wants to emulate guys like Billy B our guy should watch how Bill plays a good lead into the 2nd half of a game...

The Patriots dont let up, they dont go into a shell, playing soft zone prevent trying to get cute thinking that they will let the other team chew up clock plodding down the field... In todays game just giving the other team momentum is a huge mistake... Keep going after them instead of letting up and a couple crazy plays and all of a sudden youve let a team have hope and things snowball...

Was beyond agrivating watching us play that damn prevent D yesterday and seeing Stafford burn us for 10 and 11 right down the field and a couple desperation plays and they score... Keep going after them, demoralize the team and make it clear there is no hope in getting back into the game. Coaching and playing Prevent makes our guys complacent and let up, it showed...

So you think there is any difference between the teams? Jets vs Lions? It is easy to say lets throttle teams but on the road against the Lions I will take a win.

The way Rhodes is playing doesn't make a DEF Coordinator feel too confident in playing tight man to man and blitzing(leaving corner one on one).

If the soft zone yields a TD in 2:35 of clock time going 75 yards in ten plays then it only makes sense to tighten up and take a few chances.

You sir, who I've always admired and still do, are starting to become a troll. Is there anything I can do to help?

Looks in a mirror?

That hurts. I'll be a man about it though and look in the mirror. It's always the right idea.

I imagine Todd didn't feel too good reading what you wrote about him, either. IMO, he's making great points you refer to as trolling.

And I've always respected and liked you as well ...

Agree to completely disagree regarding he's making great points. I see a small portion of football posts and a large portion of sarcastic snark commenting only on others' comments.

That notwithstanding I'll spend some time rereading what I've been posting and do some reflection and self-inventory per your suggestion.

Two of the best people I know to hang out with on game day.

One is exactly how he posts, the other is exactly the opposite.

It is what it is I guess.

Enquiring minds want to know which is which? I haven't had the luxury of hanging out with you guys on game day. Hopefully one day.....[:D]

82.7 Coverage (5th)

Kendricks is back! Hes looked great!

Wasn't sure he was worth ext at the time based on his previous seasons.

But he's killing it this year.

I love young players that take getting paid as a challenge to get better. Kendricks, Hunter, etc.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/22/2019 10:37:26 AM)

One of the biggest things about this Vikings team is the depth and the rookie additions that have paid dividends already then you add FA Kline at RG, Doctson returning from Hammy Nov 10th, and Hill returning from suspension. We aren't seeing anywhere near our finished product yet.

The most impressive thing to me is when he's throwing into tight windows, while improvising under pressure. Like that completion to Treadwell on 4th down against the eagles. Scrambling, backing up, throwing off wrong foot, and a laser to a spot where only Treadwell could catch it.

The idea that Cousins is a statue is junk. He can move really well. I agree he's not elite, and he is only average with pocket awareness. But he is much better than many make him out to be. Another play that comes to mind, when Zach (LB for Eagles) blitzes untouched, Cousins eludes him to the right and then completes the pass.

Cousins is not Eli Manning or Flacco when it comes to mobility. When he plays with confidence, he's a top 10 QB in the league (maybe higher).

That was my thought at the extension. When we extended him, I thought we could get him at 8M or so. Thought we overpaid.

Then he was hurt and did not have a good year last year.

He has been a stud this year.

Eric Wilson is ranked #9.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/22/2019 11:49:49 AM)

Surprise to me, but maybe Elflein isn't doing that badly.

Vikings OL, PFF ranks by position and overall grades:

...of 61 tackles (playing 50%+ snaps):
14. O'Neill 72.4
31. Reiff 64.7
(Hill 68.4 would be tied for 21st)

...of 59 guards:
19. Elflein 65.4
40. Kline 58.2
(Dozier 46.9 would be 56th)

...of 32 centers:
30. Bradbury 47.5

(Krauser on Twitter)

Bruce Johnson -> RE: General Vikes Talk (10/22/2019 12:57:12 PM)

#Vikings have pretty good balance all around:

Offense: 6th in points, 6th in yards.
Defense: 6th in points allowed, 6th in yards allowed.

And another trade:

Denver is dealing WR Emmanuel Sanders and a 2020 5th-round pick to San Francisco in exchange for 2020 3rd- and 4th-round picks, per league sources.

First Mohamed Sanu, now Sanders....

PFF rookie TE player grades:

Irv Smith Jr., MN, round 2, selection 50, 73.8
TJ Hockenson, Det, round 1, selection 8, 61.3
Noah Fant, Denver, round 1, selection 20, 42.7

The eyeball test tells me Irv is playing really well. Seems like he adds a nice dimension to the passing game and from what I can tell blocks pretty well.

I know we've all mentioned how much he looks like a WR … but the more you watch him, we might just have a real hybrid here.
Can handle the demands of both positions the way it seems.
Has to be a bitch to try to cover. It has to be your best athlete, really. Too fast for big guys, too strong for a smurf.

I liked that pick when they made it. I also hated the Mattison pick and I am so happy to be dead wrong about that one.

Seems like it is a week early though.

They will need the roster spot for Hill when he's back....but not until after the Redskins game.

So is there some other reason for freeing up a roster spot?
