Great win. was worried right down to the hail mary. Again we only rushed 3 on that play so Dak had all the time hee needed to get set up for the throw. But then again, Dallas online held up well even when we blitzed too.

Cooper should have been flagged for pushing off on Hughes on that one TD.

Hughes really struggled for the most part. Had an opportunity for a pick six but dropped it. mac dropped an easy int too. Jugs machine.

Rudy with a circus catch. That was amazing.

Cousins with an admiral game. Primetime against a winning team! took good care of the football.

On a bad note our pass defense is seriously bad!

- I would not agree with that necessarily. There was one drive we ran it down their throats and dominated the line of scrimmage. Also, I think our d-line did a good job stopping Ezekiel for the most part. Was the pocket too clean for Dak? Yes, and our secondary got torched pretty good, but I wouldn't say we got shredded in the trenches.

Also, Kirk has continued to do enough for this team to win. I think the "heat" can legitimately be focused elsewhere.

P.S. - I am so glad we drafted Mattison. What a beast. I love the way he totes the rock - with bad intentions!

No way were we "shredded" in the trenches.

Held Elliot to just 47 yds rushing 2.4/carry. Pass rush had trouble getting home though.

We rushed for over a 100 and kept Cousins clean for the most part.

Felt like the only area we were shredded was the secondary. If we can get off the field on a few more of these 3rd and long plays we win this game going away.

Agreed. This defense can't get off the field on 3rd down.

What a frantic ride that game was! I didn't think the Vikings had it in them - glad to be wrong. So as not to be a cricket let me say that Dallas running the ball on their last drive was the dumbest thing I saw all game. The second dumbest thing I saw was our staff not calling timeouts right away when Dallas was inside the 20 on the last drive. We needed to conserve clock in case they scored. Also weird was when we let the play clock run down to 0 and called timeout at the end of the first quarter. I truly believe someone messed up and thought it was the end of the half. Also, just because we won still doesn't excuse that terrible ticky-tac holding call on 22 when we had Prescott sacked and they would have been forced to punt. That's a game-changing call. Eat it Americas team!!!

Did Smith's hands even open up on the play? How can you hold when your hands never really open up when near the receiver? I was beside myself after the play and hope to see a replay to see if I missed something.

I look for the flag now every time the Vikings make a great play. Erin and fans have been conditioned to have the opposite reaction, a collective gasp and expectation there will be a flag in their favor after every incomplete pass. I liked the replacement refs better in some ways because the "errors" were more random.

I've thought that for years! Did you see the horrible call for Erin in the endzone yesterday?

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2019 7:46:28 AM)

You keep playing Hughes...he hasn't had any PT and Dallas has a top 5 WR Corps. He was just getting going last year until he tore his ACL so he needs to knock some rust off.

Same thing with Hill...I think he is just coming off of groin surgery (outside of the suspension).

Yes, I posted this yesterday:

ORIGINAL: odin

I thought Erin was going to be called for intentional grounding and a resulting safety ...nope, bogus roughing the passer call.

SteveR -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2019 8:19:22 AM)

Nice win. Dallas really screwed themselves over running the ball twice on their final series, but we still did enough to put them in position where they could screw up their come back in such fashion.

Our defense is still highly suspect, so we need to score points. Fortunately, it looks like our offense is getting better.

We should win next week, as well, considering it is Denver at home. I don't know about Seattle. That's iffy. We'll see how we do against Denver first.

Lars -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2019 8:35:22 AM)

My $0.02:

Tough to win on the road - so great win!

Great job keeping Zeke in check. He didn't do anything.

Cook was a STUD! Hammer with some great blocks out there too.

Great hands by Rudy!!

Cousins played a very efficient game.

Deflection by Kendricks was awesome!!

Hughes almost had a pick 6! He struggled a bit, but Cooper made some amazing catches.

The one TD was a total push off by Cooper.

BS call against 22.

I thought the DAL DL was holding all night.

We were down several key players and went in there and got a win!

Lars -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2019 8:37:04 AM)

Other thoughts:

That call in the Puke game was crap. Should have been grounding. Even the announcers thought it was BS.

Unfortunate that there was not a camera angle to show it, because I think McCaffrey scored on that run.

Great win by the Gophers! Wow!!

Tom Sykes -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2019 8:43:23 AM)

Good win we absolutely needed and played well enough to deserve. When DAL evened it 14-14, I was not optimistic but the staff kept to the plan ... in spite of Dak playing extremely well and Cooper’s Carter-like sideline grabs.

It was the perfect situation for QB and team to build some confidence heading down the stretch. That’s critical for this bunch.

Was upset with Cousins for the DAL off-sides play he threw to Ham (but yes WRs have to have better recognition also on gimme plays and run upfield) and for the second to last third down play that would have kept Dallas off the field for good (replay showed it was a bad double-move by Diggs) ... so hard to complain about our QB.

DAL has weapons and a very good OL. They chewed up our secondary but keeping Elliot in check was worth it, it forced Prescott to make a lot of really great throws which he did - But I think we saw him and their WRs at their best - 9 out of 10 times we win that game by a larger margin because Prescott is just not that consistently accurate / we are keeping some of those dropped INTs / the perfect sideline catches are not as perfect (Cooper is very good but he’s no Chris Carter) / etc.

It was good to beat a decent (not very good) team playing well in their house.

Ush -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2019 8:51:45 AM)

My $.02:

1. Great win...on the road...prime time....good team. Checks all the boxes of things the Vikings and Cousins have struggled with.

2. Wins vs. Dallas and Philly are big in case we are fighting them for the wild card. Also big loss by the Rams yesterday that helps us as well. Beat Seattle in a couple of weeks and a lot of tie breakers end up in our favor as those are the teams we will be battling for a spot if we can’t catch GB

3. Speaking of GB...it is maddening that they keep getting game-changing calls in their favor. I guess we should be used to it but it still is so frustrating. And why did CAR go for 2 when they were down 14? Made zero sense.

4. I thought we’d miss Waynes. I know he has struggled at times this year but he is usually pretty tight in coverage. I honestly think our DB’s are pretty solid (even with Rhodes decline) and I’m hoping Zimmer can pull them together.

5. I was worried about the run D with Joseph out but curious if it would actually be better since they have struggled with him in there. It was. Interesting to see how it holds up with him out a couple of weeks at a minimum. I’ve wanted to see Watts all season after the way he played in preseason. Got a half sack last night but didn’t see him in there very often. Stephen and Johnson held up pretty well. Same for Dozier when he came in for Kline on the oline

6. Stupid false start penalties on Smith JR and Reiff

7. Hughes struggled but those catches by Cooper are impossible to cover. Perfect passes and great catches. The first one that was more of a fade on the sideline I thought Hughes gave up on. The other 2 were perfect plays IMO

8. Between Hughes and Mackensie, we should have had a couple more picks last night. Catch the ball guys.

9. Dalvin is a pure stud. Pounding him and Mathison with Ham in the backfield breaks the will of the other team and opens up so many things for the play action and reverse screens. Great game plan from the coaches on offense to cover up for missing Theilen and the knowledge that Cousins would have minimal time to throw.

10. Gotta give Kurt credit. I was done with him after the Bears game but he has been very good an not the reason we lost in KC IMO. The defense has been to blame. He has been more than a game manager and hasn’t turned the ball over. If our defense can get things together we could be a very tough out in the NFC.

Agree....horrible call. But those always seem to go GB’s way. I thought he was in as well but no good camera angle....plus...you know.....GB and all.

Some doubt crept in for me after the Bears game. I also thought he wasn't the reason we lost at KC. He definitely could have played better, but he battled and gave us multiple leads without his good stuff.

Both yesterday and against KC, he's been doing it without Thielan. As much as all fans appreciate him, it's a HUGE loss to the passing game.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2019 8:59:19 AM)

I sure wish a national writer would put in the research and write an article pointing out all the referee favoritism GB gets.

It would hopefully get the NFL's attention and force them to keep an eye on it. Utter bs what is going on.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2019 8:59:27 AM)

I have to give credit to Treadwell and Bisi...they have stepped up even if they aren't Thielen.

Treadwell looks like a changed wr....almost worthy a 4th or 5th WR spot.

He still has trouble getting separation but has cleaned up his dropsy problem. But I agree he is a servicable 4th or 5th wr esp now that he is on a min type contract.

Congrats to him

He is OK

But 4 & 5th WR needs more special teams use

League minimum only and may get cut for next year s bisi

Great concentration for Cook to bring in that pitch

That was such a Viking way to end the game, but Cook said.... Nope

That would be great. I would also like to see a "weighted penalties" stat, if it doesn't already exist, re: points added/game impact of penalties and obvious impactful non-calls. It's probably too difficult to do at this point in time, but it would be nice to at least start somewhere with this type of analysis.

Carolina had 2x the number of penalties GB did, but what was the game impact of the penalties and obvious, impactful non-calls? It was obvious that the game-changing calls were weighted in favor of GB, as usual.

Rob Viking -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2019 9:19:54 AM)

Great result! In primetime vs America's team in their house with Kirk! Kirk has had some good games in Dallas before so he wasn't flustered and his command of the offense has been sharp since the Bears game.

The game was won with the run game, controlled the pace of the game winning TOP (33-27) and ran the ball down their throats when they knew it was coming. The game was won on the game winning drive where the boys went 13 plays 75 yds in 7 mins, mainly runs. Glad Stefanski went back with the bread and butter rather than going for a pass down at the 1 on the 4th & goal.

The secondary was torched but they didn't have much of a chance when the DLine wasn't getting close to Dak. We have to give them some credit some of those plays were unstoppable. This felt like the 2006 team where you'd rather them be in 3rd & 2 rather than 3rd & 12 with the hope they run the ball. Luckily this is what happened on the their second to last drive. Huge play by Kendricks to just about seal it!

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/11/2019 9:21:07 AM)

Troubling the offense can't seem to put games away late in the 4 qtr. We got the ball at the 10 min mark and did drive to mid field but stalled. Better than last weeks effort but it would be a lot easier on the blood pressure if we wouldn't keep giving the other teams chances to win in that situation.

Agreed. This defense can't get off the field on 3rd down.

Everybody is acting like our defensive 3rd down conversion rate sucks. I believe before this game we were one of the better teams in the league. I could be wrong, but that is what I recall.
