Blaisingame gone to Titans

Seemed like he would be a real solid STer, somebody we could have added to our roster and gotten solid production from.

Regarding the Vikings attempting a pitch to Dalvin Cook late in the game:

Why would you EVER pitch the ball outside on a run play on your fifteen yard line? Hand the damn ball off and get your two yards. That reminded me of the infamous Giants/Eagles in 1978 with Joe Pisarcik muffing a hand off with thirty seconds to go and the Eagles out of time outs. Shortly after that, teams started the victory kneel down with under two minutes to go in the game. Personally, I would like the NFL to eliminate the kneel down and require teams to at least try to make positive yardage on a play or the clock automatically stops. In fact, I think the clock should stop if the defense causes the opposing offense negative yards on a play with under two minutes to go. Kneeling down is like deliberately striking out in baseball. It makes no sense. Rather than kneel down, just let the clock run out if the opposing team is out of timeouts. No team has EVER fumbled a kneel down play to my knowledge and they probably never will.

It's nothing like that. On a positive note your logic skills are right up there with your ally in this "campaign".

BigO You are correct that the logic was bad so you and I agree. Why would you want to be such a jerk to make the insinuation that you did?
However, the idea is great. If you get all excited to watch victory formation and the kneel down good for you I guess. I don't really think many fans find that to be an exciting play so as a fan in a non-partisan fashion I would love taking the kneel down away from the team in the lead.

The excitement is the part of the game that is exciting, up until the point where the outcome is no longer in doubt. I don't understand the need to artificially inject excitement into a game that has already been decided. From what I've seen at the games, 90% of the fan base already can't get up for the current level of excitement.

Dalvin Cook is second in receiving yards in the NFL among running backs. (First in rushing yards) He catches 80% of his targets and he averages 10.6 yards per reception. (424 yards) Do the math and that means over 8 yards per play when he is the target of a pass. He is definitely worthy of consideration for MVP of the league. He is on pace for 678 yards receiving and 1586 yards rushing for a total of 2264 yards combined. I don't believe that is a team record, but it certainly has to be close.

edit: Peterson had 2314 combined yards in his MVP season, so Cook is actually in striking distance.

And, like Peterson, it's possible that Cook increases his output in the second half of the season

Yeah. I was thinking that and looking at the schedule. Four of our six remaining games are at home and the Chargers game is almost like a neutral site game. Their loss last Sunday might take the wind out of their sails. One game is vs. the Bears who seem to have our number, but maybe it will be a different story as they seem to be out of the playoff picture this time, as well. In an unusual quirk of the schedule we are playing all three of our NFC North foes at home yet. The two games with playoff contenders are the Packers and the Seahawks. Those are big games. The other four teams might be ready to just play out the string and try to avoid getting hurt. Those are the kind of games where the running game should do better. So yes, potentially many of these can be big games for Cook. The success with the screens to Cook last Sunday night is something that I believe we will see more and more of down the stretch. I mean, the team averages over 8 yards per try on that play. It just makes sense that they would do that more frequently. If I'm a defender and if I'm tired mentally because I'm not playing for much and physically the season is taking its toll, then I hate that screen pass play. It's different trying to tackle a running back than a wide receiver or even a tight end. They are hard to bring down and can punish you for trying.

The Vikings will be rewarded with their depth at DT this week. Expect to see Johnson and Watts get more action. Jaylyn Holmes should play too.

I liked the kid but Ham has been awesome

He's been great, but we probably should've figured out a way to keep Blasingame too. He seems perfectly suited for an H-Back type of role.

Blazingame certainly would be more dynamic than Ham running after that 2 yard dump off he's been targeted every game.

But doubt he is as good of a lead blocker as Ham which is the FB's primary function.

Even veteran FB's don't get paid much so I'm sure we can re-sign Ham.

Thought I heard them say Clowney had over 70 pressures but only a few sacks during the Monday night broadcast.

Actually I should know better than to take their word for anything.

They made Wilson out as the Cape Crusader.

Collinsworth could be good if he didn't gush over certain teams/players like the Cowboys and Aaron Rodgers. You'd think Rodgers is a God. and Collinsworth his greatest worshiper.

They show each starter's PFF ranking on the Sunday night broadcast. I'd guess that would be by Colllinsworth's request.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/14/2019 5:22:52 PM)

The worship of Russell Wilson on the Monday night broadcast was so over the top it almost is making me start to hate Wilson.

No mention that Wilson blew that game with the int. Got lucky that SF kicker that they just pulled in off the street missed the 47 yrd FG.

The moment was too big for him they said.

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talk (11/14/2019 5:38:03 PM)

I see the Broncos will be starting rookie Brandon Allen at QB.

Their Oline isn't stellar so both Hunter and Griffin could have big days.

We all hate Erin's guts around here, but he made some unreal plays against the Chefs a few Sundays ago. (Still hurts we blew our game against them.)
Impressed by Collinworth's ability to analyze blocking, passing routes, and running game (and work a pen drawer thingie) in between plays.
